Merger of Air Cadets facebook page

The Corps FB pages have merged into one. https://www.facebook.com/aircadets

Excellent banner photo. Just what people want to see when thinking about joining the organisation. A load of Warrants. Why don’t we just put a photo of the Sqn bogs and a brush?

Big Brother is most definitely watching - the banner changed 2 mins ago…
A load of Warrants.
and a load of ATC pins in various wrong locations :stuck_out_tongue:

Point made

How to attract lots of new cadets and enthusiastic volunteers… Have pictures of old men!!

Out of interest has anyone ever had an enquiry past to them for a prospective staff member via the central social media team?

Just had a look at the photos,

How many are adults only the Red Arrows or Helen Skilton.

And How many presentation photos.

Nope, nor from the Squadron locator on the main website…

Never had a staff request from social media, the only request from central locator was from a badge collector wanting a number flash.

Hah! Yeah, I got that one too.

Very interesting that people should say that… Given that the ACFs facebook page “has generated over 750 adult joining enquiries over the past 12 months”

Hello,

Page merge: Yes - I’ve been meaning to merge the pages for a while . Back in 2008, I created two pages as a means of covering both names and form part of an early ‘brand’ protection.

Photos: As for changing the photo - this photo was placed as a cover photo as it was part of photo competition. I’ve just been unable to change it. It was serving a purpose.

Recruitment: Any recruitment queries are processed and sent to the relevant MC contact. We tend to receive a variety of both young people and adults looking to join the organisation.

Helps if you have a wing MC contact then!

Why aren’t recruiting enquiries sent direct to sqn cdrs? People making an enquiry want a response/contact quickly from their local sqn, directing it through HQAC and others delays that initial positive contact. This could be done based on postcode to find the nearest sqn (as per supermarkets websites) with a link to Bader oc and or adj emails, or is that too simple or not allowed under some bizarre/obscue MoD nonsense.

The shocking thing is they do have a postcode based Squadron finder http://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets/findasquadron/

It would be quite easy to add the email address. The current system has a “I’m thinking of Joining” button, which take you to a webform, this form sends the persons details with the Sqn they’re thinking of joining.

One of my pet peeves of this site is that they no longer show Squadron websites, as they did on the old one (http://web-beta.archive.org/web/20090307171717/http://aircadets.org/links.html)

I forgot about and gave up on that. When it was put on there, I tried it out and my sqn was in middle of field (and I mean middle of a field) 2½ miles (straight line) from where it is. My thinking was if HQAC can’t locate my sqn accurately, then it wasn’t worth the effort.

Is this something we, ACC, could help with?

I seem to recall that a member on (the old) ACC was attempting to create an accurate map of all units. I certainly provided correction info regarding my Sqn location.

There is also this website, the chap that runs it has always responded promptly to any updates I have passed on.

Indeed, Acec was running a project to place all the Sqns on Google maps. Is something like that worth re-doing?

Whatever is done wrt a squadron finder it has to have high visibility or comes up in the most tenuous of searches, to be of maximum value.

that should be ‘doable’ with the right page configurations - I might have a fiddle!
