Looking up previous Squadron History

Hi there!

I am currently a member of staff at 6F (Romford) Squadron. I am trying to piece together a full squadron history (in light of the 75th anniversary) as well as a list of all previous Commanding Officers.

The squadron itself already has a fairly substantial amount of documentation, from the original ADCC paper work to start a new squadron and the following squadrons that formed Romford Wing (374 & 1943 Squadrons).

My issue is that this information ranges from 1938 - 1943. We have a number of news paper clippings from the 70’s onwards and that has helped me pick out key information about the commanding officers and squadron events.

My current CO is planning a 6F Alumni Dinner around the date of formation in October and plan to carry this forward.

Does anyone on here know if there is a way to request information about the squadron from places like HQAC or other official sources?

Any other thoughts or comments as to where i could dig up some information would be very greatly appreciated!

Should anyone be interested in seeing the documents from 1938-1943 please follow this link http://www.sixfromfordatc.dphoto.com/

Thanks

Benjamin

If you request through your Wing HQ, HQAC should be able to confirm the name of the OCs and the dates they served.

All the way back to when we were formed do you think?

Either way, will pass it to my OC to follow up the chain of command, any information is good at this stage!

Thanks

We did something similar and were sent to Hendon for info…
