Hi there all, I have just rejoined a sqn after a couple of years and by the title of this topic is what I am considering. Now I have a rough Idea through lots of digging and stuff, of just what things I need to learn/ know/ be prepared for in going this route. Before people jump on the well you have to wait yadda yadda 6 months yadda yadda, this simply is to ask what I can fill the time by prep.
All I require is a more definitive list of what/ who /things I need to read, learn and so on.
Any advice would be greatly received and appreciated ^^
Get stuck into squadron life, be seen around the Wing, make sure you fiddle around as much as possible with Ultilearn (AKA Ultifail), SMS and use the general squadron account for email to get a feel for what’s going on. As much as people dislike it we are stuck with the wonderful EWOW HQAC has dumped on us and as bad as they are we have to use them.
You’ll need to brush up on drill and I would suggest going over the planning parts of OASC as some people come unstuck with these.
As you’re looking at VR(T) speak to your OC about their role and I hope they are honest about it.
Ta very much for the advice. I am getting back into things ^^ (I am still with the SCC RMC) but winding it down to come back to the ACO, just filled out all the joining paperwork and I think my CO will take it to wing either tomorrow or wednesday. I have read a lot of the threads here on the subject but it seems to be hazy in actual rough guides to steps to take is there any topics which are stand out favorites that I should have tattooed on the inside of my eye lids?
Im in the same boat as you. You might be interested to know that there is an opp to have a free go at the OACS interview. This is to aid the training of new interviewers at Cramwell. I will be attending as I feel this is a valuable tool to see my strengths and weaknesses. PM me if interested and Ill fill you in.
I would love to do a free trial run, I agree that it would give me great insight and evaluation of where I was a few years ago and now as a potential uniformed member of staff.
