Teaching AFA to adults requires a level 3 in teaching. Is that a full qualification that is needed? I’m doing a module next year for my DL engineering course that’s a level 4 Teaching for Engineers module. Would that be good enough?
Nope. But the L3 award in education and training course is a weekender or can be done at a number of local colleges as an evening class. Some Wgs and Rgs run them. Cost is somewhere around the £100 mark and is more widely recognised than the L4 teaching engineering course
You’re best off speaking to your Wg First Aid Officer who regulates the AFA courses, or your Wg Training Officer to see when the next available L3E&T award is. If you do it through the corps, it’s awarded by CVQO so on completion, you get the fees back!
It’s usually a few weekends residential with a bit of coursework to do at home.
