From the RAF Safety Centre linked on there:
25 Feb 20 - Cadet near miss with Taxying Tutor.
An Air Cadet Adult Staff member did not follow the briefed procedure while escorting a cadet to an Air Experience Flight aircraft and placed both himself and the Cadet in proximity to a taxying Tutor aircraft.
Wow…
Sounds a bit…
Dicey…
CFAV… Will It Blend?
More surprisingly, a cadet got to AEF.
No no, that’s accurate.
A cadet went to AEF.
Is there any reason on the RA form why there is no column for risk treatment ie accept the risk/ reduce/ mitigate the risk/ transfer the risk / avoid the risk etc … just out of interest?
I think that’s because it’s modelled on the HSE 5 step process which doesn’t talk about risk treatment. Have to say I’ve only ever come across risk treatment in a business context.
I rather think that it is expected that in all of our cases transference of the risk isn’t an option; we are unlikely to simply accept a risk unless it has already been mitigated such that the risk is ALARP, so I’m not sure the column would add much value.
