L144 shoot

Hello everyone,

There is an upcoming rifle practice for the L144, and I was wondering: starting at a beginner level, with only 4 hours of training and practice, what is the highest badge I could realistically achieve? It’s initial weapons training.

Thanks in advance!

is this session IWT & LFMT, or, just LFMT.

If IWT & LFMT, I would suggest the most likely opportunity is Blue Badge only.

If it’s just LFMT, it will depend on how many other cadets are programmed to shoot, & how many lanes on the range. To go straight from Blue to Bronze is feasible, but it will also depend on the overall standards - the RCO wouldn’t expect to run a detail of the different exercises with only 1 - 2 cadets (that’s not efficient use of range time), they would normally try & progress all cadets evenly.

It’s for 4 hours and it’s just initial weapons training. Around 12 cadets.

4 hours is a bit tight for full IWT, the lessons take 4 hours without any breaks or practice periods.

However to answer your question, just competing IWT doesn’t earn a badge. You have to complete IWT, pass a WHT and pass CLF1 on the L144 to earn the Blue badge.

No LFMT for just IWT.

This will be to learn the rifle & be tested on the safe handling.

Once this is successfully completed, then you can bid for LFMT. See my previous comments about conduct of shooting.
