King Charles Crown - Officer hat

General query my secondary cap is getting a bit tired is there anything in regs saying that we can’t wear the King Charles crown cap, I imagine for number 1s buttons probably need to match cap badge?

I can’t see why not. If that is the current pattern cap badge and it’s a private purchase. New buttons will phase in over time and I’m sure during the transition there will be more of this.

The policy appears to be to replace items displaying crowns through natural wastage, rather than all at once: so mismatching buttons, cap and rank badges, etc, is somewhat of an inevitability.

Even if all their buttons and badges show the new crown, anyone who was an ADC to Her Late Majesty would continue to wear the EIIR cypher, with a St Edward’s crown (even if they are also subsequently appointed ADC to His Majesty The King).

Reviving an old thread

Decided a new beret is in order. As it’s private purchase should I get the King’s crown?

No. Keep St Edwards for years and people will think you’ve been around since the dawn of time

I plan to keep the old beret for posterity/as a spare for the range

Just managed to buy some nice shiny silver buttons with King’s Crown for a blazer (front & sleeves).

As someone commissioned under Charlie but with a St Edwards Crown cap badge, I plan to cling onto it for as long as possible… Tudor crown is such a downgrade.

Where from?

Had to search around - one military collector site & several on FleaBay.

The ones I’ve linked are the cuff buttons size. I need to check what I’ve got against the new blazer I’ve just bought, but I might have one or 2 spare of the larger ones.

Benson & Clegg do them - but only in the Queen’s Crown I think. They are waiting to get some more in stock - they also do sets.
