Apologies for the delay in seeing this!
I’ve made a note and will pick it up at my next 1:1 with Comdt.
Do always feel free to contact me direct through RAFAC email where there are things that you would like raised.

Do we think JL with ever return?
We were told it will, but it will just be a rebranded ACLC.
There are many (to many?) courses and training that are getting revamped and taking an inordinate amount of time to complete.
To be fair, it makes much more sense to have one gold leadership course rather than three(?) and to make use of JL’s brand recognition.
The problem with JL fulfilling the role of gold leadership is there’s too much crossover with fieldcraft, and would force those interested in leadership to have to progress to a high level in fieldcraft.
The whole PTS is being revamped.

As JLs was a Leadership Course using FC as a training medium at what is now Gold level. With the introduction of PTS gold leadership do we need another gold leadership course and the FC element should be Gold FC

Have you noticed however that we’ve heard nothing about that idea since?
I don’t know, but I imagine a lot of the JL staff left afterwards. Because it’s not sustainable for one team of staff to run four continuous weeks of training on a volunteer basis.
The beauty of the original JL system was that the 9 weekends and 10 days TEST was exactly 28 paid days spread across the year, so one team could do it all.
ACLC worked because it used the CCF TEST NCOs during the long summer holidays & it was closer to the RAF IOT. Added bonus it helped pulled the CCF together.
Personally I think the JL brand was heavily tarnished by the end & was just a variant of the ACF master cadet course (a lot of time was taken up teaching basic fieldcraft)
Unsurprising that that lined up with a huge amount of confusion about how to deliver basic field craft in unit?
Does JL have much better brand recognition than ACLC which has been about forever?
Id say so, ACLC courses were always rare as hens teeth
But when are were going to hear the result of any of it?
The “new and improved” PTS was supposed to have been launched as Cosford Airshow last year . . . instead we re-launched the new Space PTS at RIAT a month later.
Supposedly later this year, but from past experience I wouldn’t bet on it.
They’re already trialling the new gold leadership course, so I suspect the decision has already been partly made.
ACLC had an age & Rank cap so a lot of ATC sqns (who generally promoted later) often didn’t have cadets eligible.
I’ve had a few attend but you had to make sure you pitched your paperwork right AND ensure that your promotion cycle fitted to maximise likelihood of getting a place.
I’ve noticed that the email address used on the calling order for the Gold Leadership 2nd Pilot is the XO..JL - so JL staff appear to be running the Gold course.
No idea, I was just paraphrasing what was said on the town hall. I did ACLC as a cadet in the ‘90s and by the time I came back as an adult, no one had heard of it and everyone was talking about JLs.
Lots more cadets went through ACLC than JLs. If I can remember the average pass rate for JL was about 50 cadets. ACLC was about 200. Plus JLs were a lot more expensive to run. I had a cadet on it and he had 11 rail warrants, none of them were less than £100.
