If you could redesign the uniform, what would you add to it?

have have seen (although can’t find on a quick search) a US soldier who cut off the long sleeve, folded up some excess to make it look “rolled” to create a permanent short sleeve which simply looked like a rolled up long sleeve

I think the court would think he looks lovely with a handbag :joy:

I think everyone in the Army has a shirt that’s been tailored like that. It was very popular with the old green field shirt as well - and I see that making a return to fashion…

Why not have zip off shirt sleeves and trouser legs.

Discussions ref MTP TRF’s could be solved by covering them with qualification badges e.g. ML, BCU coach, Shooting coach etc etc.

Great until someone turns up to FT, assault course or the range …

the same could be said for blues - you wouldn’t do it. so why do it with a tailored shirt?

Bring back OG trousers

Get yourself to Nijmegen, you can reminisce all you want about OG trousers there.

A back pocket on male No. 1 trousers, side adjusters would be great too…

Not allowed to wear them any more :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Cadets now need to pay for MTP rather than free issue of Working blue shirts and issue from stock of OGs. Now we look like the Danes, Americans, and Army and anybody else who wears multi-cam.

But not issue of MTP from stock? Or CS95 from stock?

But not look like a total mess though, which is good news.

indeed - its now only the Ruritanian Imperial High Guard who look like complete wazzocks…

Jet packs, eliminates the excuse of “im running late” simply to avoid initial parade

AI and VR goggles, then we don’t even have to leave the house (other accommodation options are available). Imagine how much efficiency will improve - no more Sqns to maintain. No need for flying or gliding. Cadets and staff always with 100% attendance in the right uniform (and all issued virtually by a happy and friendly virtual parent unit). Plus, as part of the VR goggles paradigm, we’ll be able to customise the difficulty level for Wing, Region and HQAC!

you’ve left out the best argument for a VR ATC. Carol…

Perhaps it wasn’t such a good idea after all, I seem to be having some technical difficulties - my goggles have fogged up! But it would be nice to swap my toy-town commission for a Virtual Reality (Technology) one!

RAF / RAF Air Cadets uniform:

retailor the GP Jacket to have two internal pockets, and made from genuinely (rather than just nominally) waterproof material

re-appoint the contract for No.2 dress trousers (the current ‘NC’ ones) such that they don’t become wrinkled around the crotch & pockets within 5 mins of wearing

create a barrack-dress version of the No.2 dress trousers, with a heavier-weight material and bigger beltloops (ie an issue version of what so many Offrs/WOs/SNCOs privately procure). This could simply be retailored surplus No1 dress trousers.

require that all Cadets and Staff (when wearing greens / No.3) wear a blue squadron number badge (or Wg/Rgn shortform abbreviation for Wg/Rgn Staff) on the arm in exactly the same way as RAF personnel currently do as per EAW/EAG identifiers

actually implement a second brassard policy, for all Cadets progressed beyond Leading Cadet

require that Staff where appropriate DO wear name-badges (the proper corporate ones in an RAFAC adaptation in No2 dress, and correct embroidred ones in No3 dress). Staff not wearing name-badges (other than at IOC/SSIC) is totally illogical

allow Cadets to wear wedgewood shirts without ties and with the sleeves rolled-up where appropriate and so directed. This should be permitted right up until the day (perhaps never) that Cadets are issued with short-sleeved shirts (…or are given collective permission to tailor a second long-sleeve shirt down to short sleeve, for £2).

permit all uniformed staff to wear any type headgear in any order of dress, as ordered or where as appropriate. Suspend your disbelief on this suggestion, and think about it objectively for a bit.

I’d scrap working and wedgewood blues as everyday dress it’s horribly dated. Save shirt and tie for No1’s and parades!

The RAF trialled Dark Blue PCS about 10 years ago, much better and more practical option, but only the RN took it up.

The RN use blue PCS as an alternative (under most circumstances) to MTP PCS - we still have and regularly use No 3 (the equivalent of Wedgwoods) for barrack dress.

Blue PCS for everything, save MTP PCS just for fieldcraft
