Had to shoe string mine!
There are Velcro backed small rank slides for UBACS etc. They are ally. Shame they donât have RAF Air Cadets versions. Another reason we should have gone with pins or an RAFAC backing not a whole new set of slides.
I am sure someone will make them if you order a decent amount.
is this not a SOP???
I had to do that on my last jersey but then upgraded and the current issue seems to fit a lot better.
On the subject of jerseys, any redesign should get rid of the need to wear a tie with a jumper. In fact, that single change to the current regs (reverting to what we had in not too long ago) would suit me.
Will the badge for Air Rev have a photo of a really small tutor in it in the top right hand corner?
maybe, or a C-5M Super Galaxy
There is a precedent for that, sort ofâŚ
PTIs when wearing No12D (i.e. MTP trousers with PTI Vest) are to wear their rank on the OG webbing belt when jackets are removed.
Nah, cadets might get a flight in a GalaxyâŚ
Iâd rather be in the c-130 fuselage it can haul around inside it
In all seriousness, it could just be a small bar with âARâ in it in either blue, bronze, silver or gold.
Doesnât have to look like the thing it is. Leadership doesnât look leadershippy, the road matching bar is just 3 coloured blocks, and radio and cyber - while being two distinct things - are virtually identical.
Might just be me on this, but this style (Please excuse me for not knowing its name) of RAF Uniform would be rather nice.

Itâs the old flying jackets isnât it?
Donât like the socks though
Iâm not sure on their exact name. Also I do believe those âsocksâ are puttees, but just in the blue/grey colour.
Battle Dress isnât it?
Battledress, 1947 Pattern, Blue-grey
Hmm. These were reputedly a lot nicer to wear than the War Service ones, but theyâre not ideal. And blue blanco-ed '37-pattern belts/webbing was a bit of a pain.
AnkletsâŚbut often they were called gaiters
Negative- puttees were horrendous. Utterly. Think of ankle bandages made from new sacks
Thank you very much. I didnât know a single bit of that before you said.
You should watch some episodes of the underated-but-good classic series âGet Some InââŚhighly-recommended. From my fatherâs National Service era, set 1950s into the 1960s, but filmed in the late '70s
Fag for the CorporalâŚ
