If you could redesign the uniform, what would you add to it?

It’s available for anyone. It’s just private purchase.

Just to look nice:

No1 Uniform with Flat Plate ATC Belt Buckle
SD Cap (ATC Cap Badge [better design somehow])
Ammo Boots for Ceremonial Parade, Double Tapped DMS Ankle Boot Parade Shoes
Electric Blue Sash for SNCO’s, Officer Belt w/Sash and Sword for CWO’s (nicked style from RAF)

No2 Dress (Jumpers on always, old style too) - Ie removal of No2A and No2C
Stable Belt over Jumpers
SD Cap in No2’s
Ammo Boots for Ceremonial Parade, Double Tapped DMS Ankle Boot Parade Shoes for normal nights
Brassard with Sqn Number, ATC, Classification and the current PTS badge system

MTP Barrack Shirt and Trousers With Stable Belt/Greens Belt (With Air Cadets TRF)
Beret with Metal Badge for NCO, WO and Officer ranks.
MOD Patrol Boot (Brown)

Just a bit of hypothetical heaven style future.

So essentially you want cadets on average parade nights to:

  1. Be uncomfortable;
  2. Look utterly ridiculous.

Hypothetical - it’s for the aesthetics.

And well fitted uniform (which, again, in a hypothetical case is possible) shouldn’t be uncomfortable.

Swords for CWOs is… interesting.

Obviously a good bit of sword drill for the CWO’s would be in order…

I thought that Leadership badges were already awarded - they were called rank badges?

Regardless of how well fitted a jumper is it’s going to be somewhat uncomfortable in the summer months…

As you’ve stipulated jumpers are always to be worn I stand by my point.

Why would CWOs routinely carry swords in No1? No precedent there…

The RAF are poor on a level that is difficult to comprehend at supplying the uniform they should.

The RAF don’t supply the uniform, they merely distribute it.

I’d have thought a man of your experience would understand the difference…

Given we have to go and collect it, they don’t distribute it either.

I don’t think that word means what you think it means!

A rank slide on MTP/DPM trousers for those times you need to be wearing a t-shirt only

I did once see a CWO with a rank side attached to the belt loops. He had chopped the back of it and attached Velcro so could wear his rank slide when In a T-shirt.

I don’t need a rank slide for people to know I’m in charge. Anyone who does is doing it wrong.

I have been at a multi Sqn/Wing/Regular event where T-shirts were the order from the Stn Cmdr due to heat… Rank Slides would of been good

I’d just be happy with decent fitting round neck jumpers
