IBN 045 - SOVs and RAFAC Policy

Am I being too simplistic in thinking that I, or any other CFAV or cttee member, could buy the SOV and treat it as a private vehicle? I know that the ins broker I use is a CFAV - if he is on here maybe he could advise of the potential insurance implications, costs etc, inc the "best (ie most economical) way of having multiple drivers. Not sure if Permit 19 would be available though.

It’s another nail in the coffin by people in HQ who neither care no have any consideration for hard working CFAV’s when Sqn’s start closing and the politicians start complaining about youth crime no one will think - what happened to that ATC Squadron that used to be there and did so much for the youth of the area??

Commandant is a joke - who’s just covering his back and neither has the foresight to see the damage he’s causing and definitely lacks the intelligence to do much about it. Thought that he might do a bit better than Dawn but alas sadly not.

Too harsh?

Don’t know if I’m being thick but when I click on the link it seems no longer to be working - has it been rescinded?

IBN 045 - 2020

It just comes up that the link has been removed

Yep, appears to have disappeared. If you go to key docs and look in the IBN folder it is no longer there. I’m assuming this is an accident however, as the IBN index still shows it as a ‘live’ IBN. ie the link hasn’t been removed from the index.

Maybe they have realised the total cluster they have caused.

Or maybe they are adding in…
‘All sovs are banned’.

So you hire a vehicle and driver, you don’t know how well maintained it is but it’s test interval will be that the DVSA demans and no more, and how fit to hold a pcv licence the driver is. Remember the Glasgow bus crash?

You can apply that to every single instance we use public transport, from getting on a bus to getting taxi. You know what, crap happens

Or more formally, risk is as low as reasonably practical

I noticed ACTO150 has been updated but still refers to Policy Note 1 in the IBN. As the IBN isn’t available, we can only rely on what’s published in the ACTO. Most of the ACTO is useful, sensible policy, summarising the legal position, so I’m happy with that.

The announcement that said that the IBN had been updated has also now been removed too!

Someone has fully fudged up.

Probably realised that asking for motor assurance above and beyond the legal requirement was a slippery slope to ‘nope-ville’

It’s coming back with checks every three weeks. Someone decided 6 wasn’t enough

Nah. HQ clearly saw us saying that our cars are considered safe with just a yearly MOT and realised that isn’t enough. New policy is going to say all our cars also need to be checked every 6 weeks even if you just drive to the squadron

HTD claims must be accompanied with evidence of a valid MOT, insurance for the journey and mid-term inspections which cover the period being claimed for.

Ticking the boxes indicating that MOT and insurance is valid for the journeys made is now no longer adequate as it requires the CoC to trust the CFAV

And if you get the bus, what do they do then, demand a copy of the companies documents to be submitted in triplicate and only on a friday?
