Could even get an SOV transferred in ownership to a CFAV.
It’s their own vehicle and as long as its Insures correctly could be driven by anyone.

Can’t fly in a civilian aircraft (unless in a Scotland) - safety not assured by the specialist civvie organisation = you’ll only fly with military pilots

Squadron Minibus - The RAFAC won’t sign off the operation = HQAC defer to the specialist civilian organisation.

Are SOV’s own’d by the squadron or by a independent charity called " 1234(anywhere) sqn. Civilian committee" since they buy,service, tax and insure it ?

They’re owned by the civilian committee. A charity in is own right. The problem is it’s a grey area as our Civ Coms are dictated too my their CoC.

i can’t imagine the situation would be different than it is now.

P19 is issued to the vehicle - who owns or uses the vehicle doesn’t come in to it, providing the use of the vehicle is inline with the P19 policy (ie not for hire or reward)

The thing is, when white fleet works well it’s amazing. My old wing were so good with it.

There was a point years ago, when I was in my current wing, but still running Nijmegen for my old one. WARMA that year was the day after Test Phase ended (I was also DS), and old wing booked white fleet for the whole period.
It was dropped off at my local unit, I then drove it to test phase, where it was the easiest vehicle to use because it worked with any FMT600, as opposed to base white fleet vehicles, who got funny if you used a Cranwell FMT to drive a Honington bus and vice versa. Whereas everyone could use mine.
I then drove all of the cadets from Test phase to WARMA, even some from other wings, and then, because you can’t drive home from WARMA, I left it there and that’s where the hire ended.

Heres a solution then.
They dont want SOVs.

  1. Any Sqn with an SOV gets it bought from them by HQAC at actual price. As it’s now effectively useless.

  2. Every Sqnwho wants one is given a white fleet for a roling lease.

His comments in his RAFA interview were not a promising start and was an early indicator as to how it was going to go.

A CFAV could buy it which would mean the ownership is transferred and have a lot of the maintenance done as an ongoing sqn project as part of the deal. The problem would be the standard costs of motoring, but on the whole not that daft an idea.
If this was to be a thing you could see some club rules being introduced, ref private vehicles.

If they aren’t careful then HQAC will just end up chasing shadows.

Malicious compliance is a real term for a reason. Whatever workaround is found (for this, flying, whatever), if it goes wrong it will still be RAFAC plastered across the news and no plausible deniability will protect them from ire.

We currently own 3 minibuses, those minibuses are made available to other squadrons outside our own, a real lifeline, this is effectively the last nail in the coffin for that. Complete joke, written by someone who doesn’t know anything about our organisation.

Very reason we got rid if ours and now can’t go anywhere very easily.

I was OC of a sqn on a RAF Station. Well remember being told by WHQ that only CFAV and enrolled cadets from my Sqn were covered by our (privately sourced) insurance policy. Camp car park was half a mile from Sqn, over a busy dual carriageway, so SOP was to take bus to CP and collect any potential recruits and parents - so that then made recruitment difficult to say the least! Also meant that if eg I saw the Stn Cmdr caught in the rain, I couldn’t offer him a lift!
Checked with insurers - confirmed no restrictions whatsoever on who could be carried, as long as it wasn’t for hire or reward.
Told WHQ that they had no authority to dictate who I could carry in what, in essence, was a privately owned vehicle and that they had no knowledge of my insurance cover as they had not had sight of my insurance policy. Heard nothing more!
They then had the audacity to ask if I could transport “official” visitors, who had arrived on station via train/taxi, from main site to domestic site. Was also asked if I could collect summer camp staff from nearby civvy airport.
