IBN 013 - 2021: 3822A & 3822H

About to put a chaser out as we haven’t even had any questions so no idea if the email got through…

90% return.

Day it came out I sent a letter and copies of annon links to all parents.

2 weeks later chased.

Final chase sent last week.

Made it clear I won’t chase again and that wexo will be suspending cadets in sept.

Sqn ‘next door’. Zero returned. Out of 35.
But they havent sent any Comms.

Tbh.
Im not entirely sure the centrally delivered Comms were even received by most.

I received 2-3 back before any sqn comms. I then sent an email around to parents saying we’d refund any subs paid for the last year and would only send the cheuqe in the post after they’d replied with updated contact details on a new completed 3822a, I then got 25 back out of 35 active cadets within about a week.

I’ve had some. I’ve had some use them in place of TG21 and TG23, and the other way around using the F3822a and h to attend activities. I’ll worry when I’m back though and can chase in person.

I’ve had a couple and I’m not even on the Squadron or using the Squadron email anymore. :man_shrugging: Parents are strange

We’ve had 6 back from a theoretical 27, despite seeing 17 of the cadets. I’ve contacted parents once and as I have more important things to be concerned about, I’m not pushing it. They’re turning up which is the important thing. We’ll be going into summer holiday mode next week, So I may chase harder at the end of Sep, by which time nature may have taken it’s course.

@Paracetamol How much of threat is that? We need to keep it in perspective. Our young people will be coping with whatever schools are doing. For many next year will be the start of their final GCSE, A Level or BTEC year after in effect missing 1½ school years, We need to be more relaxed across the board. If HQAC want to play hard ball that’s down to them, I’m being completely flexible.

It’s not a threat.

It’s what is in the ibn.

I dont want some snot nosed sprog or parent coming to me saying their cadet is suspended…blah blah.
When I have told them it straight.

My wexo has already made it very clear.
On the date. They will runaway a report or check manually. Any caders without an uploaded 3822a will be suspended. No ifs no butts.

Not me making these rules.
So you can be as flexible as you like. It all comes to your wexo.

We’ve had about 25% back so far (mix of paper and email), but we’ve only done gentle nudging. Come August we’ll start going individually to parents who haven’t returned them.

Stay on topic please

We’ve had 2 returns so far out of a possible 30 although we’ve only had around 15 or so return since we started F2F again.

Admittedly I had completely forgotten about this until the thread popped up but probably going to wait until the summer period is over before we start to chase.

We have been given a deadline from our wing to have this sorted for ALL cadets y the end of October 21, we are waiting on our first return! They can just go swivel I/we haven’t the energy.

I mean, the deadline in the IBN is September isn’t it? End of October is giving you more time than HQAC have said, not less. Or am I missing something?

it may be wishful thinking on my part  could be Sept.

I’m not even starting to chase until the end of Sep.
It’s holiday time now and by the end of Sep cadets will have a better idea if there is a place for us in their lives. Push too hard now and it can only go one way.
I don’t know why HQAC have got a bug up their backsides about this of all the things. As for deadlines these can change as we all know. If you were a parent and told your son/daughter was suspended from a club like ours, how important would that be?

I don’t think this one is on HQAC, I think the time line had been dictated by someone above them.

I can only assume RAF Legal had a brown pants moment that made them realise the old form want for for purpose.

To quote the IBN (I like to quote policy to avoid confusion)

Completed forms for each cadet in the ATC are to be returned to local units (DF or Sqn) (ideally digitally via email – but hard copy versions are acceptable, in extremis) by not later than 10 Sep 2021 .

A two-week grace period will then be provided to 25 Sep 21, after which unit commanders may make a recommendation to the Wing Executive Officer that cadets who have failed to return completed forms are suspended without prejudice, as we will not hold the necessary consent in line with our policies and procedures.

Not worrying about this until the end of September is unfortunately too late.

I’m getting a drip feed through and will be increasing my communication on this now that we’ve had our 2nd parade night of F2F.

We are going to be returning our subs back to previous levels on 1 Sep, and I want to easily identify those cadets not coming back and this consent piece will form a large part of that. Off the top of my head I’ve seen 17/55 cadets thus far. So thank god for my 34 strong waiting list!

The biggest issue for me is keeping track of who has and who has not returned them.

Short of having to make a spreadsheet with all their names on, I don’t know how else to track it.

Mmmm spreadsheets

@james_elliott is there anyway of running a report on it? I’ve not actually uploaded any so don’t know how it works.

EDIT: Thinking about this a bit more, am I right in thinking that when this change happend, all cadets had their ‘tick box permissions’ removed, IE the box that says permission to join? Assuming staff are re-ticking this when adding the new 3822As, could a report be run
at squadron level to see which cadets still don’t have those boxes ticked?

I’d done exactly that then access was lost in the OneDrive migration!
