Huntingdon Train Incident

I did think the right wing lot has been a bit quiet. I suppose Tony Williams as an attacker, with Samir Zituoni as the hero doesn’t quite fit their normal rhetoric.

Well I’m sure they will find a way to make the UK born black man not British on the basis of his skin colour.

Why should Reform supporters object to someone be awarded a decoration for an act of great bravery?

Because he’s brown? Apparently there’s way too many of them on Telly already.

Quote from elsewhere:

The name of the suspect in the Huntington knife attack is Anthony Williams. The name of the hero who shielded train passengers and saved lives at risk to his own is Samir Zitouni. That sound you hear is the simultaneous explosion of thousands of Reform voters’ heads.

Honestly, it looks like they’ve already pivoted to straight-up racism.

“He doesn’t look British to me!!” comments all over Facebook/Instagram/X under photos of the assailant. It’s sickening. The guy is as British as I am, as much as it pains me to say it given how horrible he clearly is.

It’s worth remembering that violent crime is generally going down, not up. It’s incredibly difficulty to follow, as definitions change, reporting changes etc etc. But a good metric is the murder rate, as the definition of that doesn’t really change. And it’s trending downwards. The murder rate in London is down something like 60% in the last 20 years.

Another good metric to look at is hospital admissions for assault by sharp object. This has generally been coming down over the last 10 years or so.

This constant shouting by the likes of Reform that the country is a criminal haven that’s getting out of control is a load of rubbish. The numbers are trending down. What’s happening is an increased visibility of such incidents due to social media. Especially when the incidents involved someone who doesn’t “sound or look British” as they like to say on Facebook.

looks like rubbish to me

I am not a Reform supporter, nor align with their policy.
while i cannot argue against your numbers of violent crime, that doesn’t mean all crime is coming down.
most notably Reform react to the sexual abuse crime conducted by migrants in hotels, be it convicted crimes or simply unwanted attention which never gets as far as the police. communities don’t “feel safe” because of some whispers and that is what Reform is jumping on - people’s fear and paranoia

It looks like we might have had our own Pete Hegseth moment.

The problem is, these whispers are often unfounded, or based off of single incidents.

Pretty sure it’s white men, normally partners or ex-partners, who do the most assaulting of women. This is often ignored or overlooked, as most of these incidents don’t hit the front page, as it’s ‘normal’.

This is certainly a balls up. But nothing close to the Hegseth incident!
