It can be a nice boost, but every time that it’s written about one of my activities it has literally just reworded what I’ve written myself.
It’s not so much AI as plagerism.

Definitely planning to do Dodentocht again this year
Along with Cosford, Waendel Weekend, Pathfinder and Nijmegen.
There was a bunch of about 14 of us that pitched up together at the campsite to make a British Enclave - with a further 5 that were staying in a hotel (snobs!):
There’s a good chance that there will be a few more with a bit of luck this year!
At least you’re young enough to get there in one piece!
I’ll be 80 if I’m picking up my 30th…!
Hope everyone’s preparations for Dodentocht 2k25 are going well!
I’ve recruited three friends to train alongside me this year so should be a decent attempt.
On a side note, we’re going to RAFWARMA this year on just the Saturday 40km route.
Would I apply for the “2” pin for the RAF tricolour medal I got after doing 40km x 2 or a “1” medal for a 1 x 40km?
Not sure if the medal/ribbon is the same for doing 1 or 2 40km days… The form says the pins are for the same distance but not sure if that’s overall or per day?
The only time I did WARMA was about 15 years ago, however the ribbons were different then. The 2x 40km was the RAF colours, whereas the 1x 40km (which I did) was just equal red & blue stripe.
Ive done a total of 780 steps today, so smashing it.
As you will not me meeting the conditions for a 2 pin for your 2 x 40km medal you should be applying for a 1 x 40km medal.
Thank you, I thought so.
Basically wasn’t sure if it was the same medal for 1 or 2 x 40km.
Hope everyone’s training is going well for this year!
Decided to trial walking in Walking Shoes rather than Walking Boots.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Happy to spend up to £100 ish for a decent pair.
Merrells are always a good shout. Many years ago I worked for Blacks, and we would regularly receive customers who had been prescribed them by their podiatrists due to the high level of support they provide - something critical for distance events.
Pair them up with a good pair of merino socks and you should be on to a winner.
Personally, my preference is MOAB, but everyone’s different.
If you’re in uniform or a DofE leader, don’t forget that Blacks, Millets, Ultimate Outdoors and Go Outdoors all give a reasonable discount with the right card. For Go Outdoors, if you head there, find the same shoes online and they price match if the shop is UK based - they’ve done it for me on some very small shops offering huge discounts.

Seconded - I like the Merells. Sometimes have a issue with the sticking on the heel, but rectified with a bit of sniper tape over it. I wear those and the thinner 1000 mile socks - I find the ticker ones too warm in trainers (although not in boots, go figure). A decent pair on insoles too - don’t think you have to stick with factory fitted.
I prefer Keen and Salomon - but I need a wider fit. I’ve also spent some time kicking around in barefoot shoes - which take some time getting used to, but they really help easy away the miles!
I did the whole of a 3 week travelling holiday in SE Asia, including several days on walking tours, in a pair of crocs. Might try them for Death March at some point
My first time at Nijmegen, I went though 7 different pairs of shoes, boots and trainers - along with 6 different insoles…
In principle, I would dearly love to find a pair of shoes that I got on with - but can’t part with my Altbergs… worn with aftermarket heat molded insoles from Sole, thin socks, with chunky woollen ones over the top!
In the meantime - who else is registering for this year’s Deathmarch…?
Registration opens Saturday 22nd March at 0800 (our time)
There’s a group of us from the BDWF doing RAFWARMA Cosford, Waendel Weekend and the RAF Pathfinder if you fancy joining us for a post walk “hydration” or two… along with Nijmegen of course…
Nope.
Go on….!
If only so you can wink at our mutual friend and say “it’s not THAT hard…!”
Have zero time to train tbh
I’ll be at Cosford - although I won’t be walking if you are walking you’ll see me at some point
See you at both.
is the hot meal at the halfway of doto worth it?
also can you register for 2 people at once or is that a no?
