Hi how do i apply for the further security clearance needed to then do the shooting courses etc? As i know i have to have this done first.
Has to be instigated by Wing Perm Staff and they might want Wing Shooting Officer endorsement to confirm that you are taking that path and need it.
Beyond that, there’s not much that we should probably say publicly.
Try your shooty bod first and see what they say is the best approach.
You also don’t need the SC to attend the course, just can’t use the qual until you do have it.

Locally, that doesn’t seem to be the view. Guidance is that you need SC to attend RCO cses (even AR RCO).
Info - renewal - our pillar system doesn’t have specific guidance (there is a link for new application). However, after a couple of emails, I’ve established that for Q4, you enter RENEWAL. Let’s see if I did it correctly!
You don’t need SC to attend any course, only to exercise the privileges of the qualification. SC is needed for unsupervised access to OME, and to exercise the privileges of a qualification where such access is inherent, e.g. SA (SR) (07) Cadet. You must at least have applied for an SC before attending such courses. Since the privileges of SA (AR) (12) Cadet don’t include unsupervised access to OME, an SC isn’t needed to exercise the privileges of that qualification. ACP 18 Vol 1 Ch 1 refers.
