Hi,

They’re for keeping you warm when wearing greens.
They used to be part of older DPM uniforms - they’ve now been replaced by the green fleece (which has itself been replaced by a pile jacket) but are perfectly acceptable as mid-layers for cold weather if newer items aren’t available.
warm kit that can be worn under smocks whilst in green kit. Plus when worn over the cs95 shirt but with combat trousers a smart yet warm and practical form of barrack dress!!
May just be an army thing though tbh!
Thanks, we have loads of kit that we don’t get issued mostly old and the dpm’s we do have a massive and i am small so it takes ages to find the right kit.
Also, do all squadrons get issued dpm’s as last year on fieldcraft most cadets said they had to buy their own dpm’s for fieldcraft as they had not used them before.
Most squadrons dont “issue” DPMs in the traditional sense - it isnt on inventory, it isnt ordered from the parent station as blues are.
However most squadrons aquire job lots of DPMs which are then doled out, either by way of an informal issue or meerely given away, depending on the squadron’s point of view.
Most of this DPM uniform is however a bit on the large side for many cadets, or PWS, or has been sitting around for ages.
