Full List of Uniform Including Codes, NATO/Individual Sizes - Any such spreadsheet available please?

Hi All,

I’m a CivCom Chair and I’m assisting the SQN CO due to my technology background, in putting together a new and much easier to use on a tablet Uniform/Stores Inventory spreadsheet (he is fully behind this)

However, to try and save time, plus to finish this document off to be released as live and let them all get on with bringing the sqn stores and processes into the latest modern era, I’m wishing to know if there is any document, or a way to get hold of one, that details every item of Uniform, that also holds the;

MOD Stock #, NATO Size, and various individual common known sizing like waist, seat, leg, chest etc please.

I’ve tried looking through RAFAC ‘Key Documents’ on Sharepoint, but can’t seem to find anything specific and hence seeking some signposting if at all possible.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Regards,

Use the unified ordering form thing. Out had the full list of what we can order, with the sizes etc.

I may even have this in excel format somewhere from when I did a full inventory check a while ago, but on mobile at the moment so wouldn’t be able to find it!

I’ve been wanting to do something similar, I have just been printing off the uniform ordering sheet, Counting the uniform, penciling in the numbers, and changing as and when we give uniform out or get new uniform in.

Thanks for the reply. I’m more than happy to wait till a convenience time for you to have a look and upload it here, so I can take a look and see if it fits the bill?

It would be much appreciated.

CivCom have bought a decent 11" Lenovo tablet with extra tough case, one that has a nice rotating rear strap to be held ergonomically in the palm. SWO is going to choose 2 cadets, one for entering the data on the tablet, into the spreadsheet and one helping SWO out sorting through, calling out sizes, descriptions, colour and so forth.

I made a front index, and each button takes them to the corresponding item types actual sheet tab, so nice and easy, also with a return to index button at the top of each item types actual sheet tab too - for ease of access to it all. We all know spreadsheets can be a nightmare, but this is just a little extra I’ve offered to the OC which he’s glad for, and we get on really well in all honesty so it works.

Also adding in sheets for Uniform Out/In, Nato Sizing and the RAFAC Cadet Uniform Sizing Sheet.

Once I can get hold of all uniform data, as mentioned in the OP, I will then be able to finish it off with a master sheet that takes the quantities from all individual item sheets, and updates the master inventory sheet for a speedier ‘snapshot’.

If when I’ve completed each sheet with the relevant uniform/stock details, and the aforementioned master quantity snapshot sheet, I’d be happy to share it here in case anybody wishes to take a look for themselves, and possibly use or even amend further to work for their end?

Regards,

I have a spreadsheet with all the sizes, but no NSNs. Arguably the NSN is not that important for just keeping stock?
I can email you what I have of you let me know what email is best? (Guessing chair.2353 based on that screen shot!)

We never did get around to setting up the chair account, what with all the to’ing and fro’ing regarding role accounts in recent times, so I’ll flirt you across my personal 100 if that is ok, instead and thank you once again. :+1:

My reasoning for the NSN for this spreadsheet, and as it will be x2 cadets assisting SWO with this mammoth task which of course will take time, is that the Nato Sizing is easy to identify from what I can see and as it’s large print on the lables, it makes them easier to identify by the naked eye = increasing productivity and decreasing admin time… that was my main thought with wishing to include these, relative to the items ordinary UK style sizing such as waist in inches/centimeter’s etc.

It’s a good point. Albeit, the size is normally pretty clear too!

FWIW, having done exactly this task, it takes a lot more time than you think. I moved to a unit a while ago and one of the first things was to pull all the uniform out of stores and log exactly what we had. We first split it into piles of uniform types, then had a cadet per pile go through and tally all the sizes, which I then put into the spreadsheet that I’ve sent to you. It took hours and hours, even with about 6 of us doing it.

Great intel, thanks and don’t worry, we in both CivCom and OC/his staff are expecting this to take quite some time for sure.

However, where they’ve come from and to where it is now, by doing this no matter how long it takes, is a benefit to his staff and cadets = much quicker access to what is needed at any one point in time, and finally CivCom getting a handle on what level of cover is needed for non MOD kit/equipment, for insurance purposes going forward - another spreadsheet on the go for that side of things = never ending

They moved from their original home since 1960, the other year to a temporary location for a while - now in a JCC - and whilst the storage space is a decent size, it’s still not adequate for growing the sqn forward, sadly, but we’re all mucking in from both sides to make the best of it and yet both sides appreciate it’s larger than what some sqn’s have/don’t have all the same.

This is why CivCom agreed to purchase circa £400 worth of extra tough boxes with lids of various sizes, for the longer term being much more durable than the previous thin plastic or cardboard boxes etc.

Incidentally, I found a post on here from the past that acknowledge the benefits of trying to sort uniforms into sets somewhat, rather than putting all shirts or say trouusers in a specific box… we’re both toying with the former approach, not the latter idea but shall see which works out best for OC/SWO and go with it… anything will be better than at present since the move, for all concerned. :upside_down_face:

We do this every 2-3 years over a weekend where we can fill the main hall with stuff.

Our spreadsheet isn’t that fancy though, just basic filtered columns with item, size, quantity and location.

The document is JSP 786 which should be on the government publishing service online (can’t check right now).

From memory it has a host of annexes listing every possible item of uniform so it’s a question of trawling the web to find the one that covers the RAF blue stuff (and MTP if you are so inclined).

You might get there as quickly getting the NSNs off the labels if you have uniform in packets to hand.

There you go.
