How does freedom of the parish/borough/city actually work
The corporation / municipal authority (council) would pass a motion (vote) to grant the award of freedom to a unit (freedoms can also be granted to individuals), which can then parade through the parish / borough (if there are any left?) / city with colours flying and bayonets fixed.
Historically, members of the unit would be able to take certain liberties: but times change.
