Flag pole

My squadron is currently without a flag pole, which means we are unable to fly the ensign on parade nights. This is something we’d like to change, but we’re a little short of space so would prefer something as compact as possible.

I read a guide somewhere that explained how the ensign should be flown, but I can’t remember where. Is it acceptable for the flag pole to be mounted on the gable end of a building? This sort of thing: http://www.flagpoles.co.uk/wall-mounted-flag-pole I’ve seen older installations but nothing very recent.

Thanks

i know of a unit that has a very similar set up to that of the linked image…I can’t see a problem with it??

surely something is better than nothing?

Attaching it to the building might be difficult and require a works order, which would take a lot of time to come through, as it wouldn’t be seem as necessary.

Some of the weekend papers have flagpoles; the sort of thing some people put in the gardens, that come with the fittings. If they’re too tall, cut off to the desired length, dig a hole, a bag of Postcrete job’s a good 'un. Once it’s in I don’t suppose anyone would moan, given the frequency that people who might get bothered visit.
