Over what distance?

I’ve had similar climbs before so appreciate how tough that difference in altitude can be.

Edit: nevermind, just checked your Strava. The 3D map says enough! :joy:

If you look there’s some zigs and zags I completely missed which would have reduced the grade significantly! Might have been a better option.

I peaked at 182 bpm very early on on the way up, then calmed down my pace a bit.

I sprinted up the hill (and onwards to the finish line) on the 2nd lap of parkrun this week and still didn’t reach a HR of 182bpm, even on the sprint finish where I was running at over 20km/h!

So your comment piqued my curiosity. On my birthday last year I “ran” (mostly walked) a trail 25km through the Andes starting at roughly 1,390m amsl.

My heart didn’t do so well…

An average of 170 is mad lol

But that’s starting at 1300m! I think I’d just die :joy: Plus that 7:50 pace at the start is strong given the altitude and steepness.

My average pace today was 13:55/km, 4.3km/h which is pretty decent considering. But my 5km yomp home at 6km/h probably put that average up!

Oof.

I hit 5 on the body battery at 2000hrs yesterday. Proceeded to dance at the wedding till about 4. Got about 5 hours sleep, but only got back up to 18 on the score. Then just had a nice morning swim to wake me up!

I think I’m going to crash hard later today… But we’re going for a walk shortly :joy:

I recognise that stress pattern; just how many pints did you have…?

Talking about draining body batteries, here’s today’s attempt to do so!

I was disappointed I couldn’t see Edale whilst crossing the head of Hope Valley :upside_down_face:

Got to the wedding at 1300. Left at about 0315, plus a 1km walk back to the airbnb. Safe to say you can drink quite a few beers, cocktails and bottles of wine in 14 hours :joy:

I’m already back down to the 5 on the body battery. Just got back in from a nice 7km walk along the cliffs then scrambled back along the beach which is all massive boulders!

The stress graph is genuinely one of the contributing factors behind me giving up alcohol; once I could visually see the impact, the cons started outweighing the pros with evidence.

That said, I think I overdid it today anyhow. Having just had a carby dinner, I expect to go back into the orange soon too (same mistake as last night, hence the stress peaks during sleep and lack of charge).

What are you guys using to get this data?

Historically, i dont get on well with Smart watches but was thinking about one of those smart rings.

My Fitbit data doesn’t give me nearly as much as that!

Mine’s from a Grmin Fenix 8. Bought a present for my self when I moved. It’s pretty great, highly recommend.

Really good sleep metrics. But also constantly heart rate and sats, which gives hrv readings too. Plus it knows your averages for all these metrics and knows when your out. It’ll know your coming down with a cold before you get the symptoms!

Plus all the normal great activity recordings for distance, time, pace, heart rate etc etc.

Garmin Enduro

Designed for longer events like Ultras, so has a battery life that puts most other fitness watches to shame - a full charge can last me 6 weeks ish with 24/7 use. Only downside is mapping is only breadcrumbs rather than topo - but the latest model has fixed this.

Went on the all inclusive.

Lost 2lbs

Prepped uniform last week for upcoming weekend activities… had to iron it again.

I had to go digging for new trousers as lost and back into 100 waist MTP…

As a few people are still engaging with this comment, there’s additional context I need to add.

It turns out that what I thought was hayfever was actually some kind of respiratory illness and I just didn’t realise it at the time. This might help to explain the HR being so high…
