I realised that I’d blown through the max mileage on my trainers and should have bought some replacements long ago, so I’m hoping to take my new shoes out and see if that fixes my 5k knee issue.
Gutted that I’ve not been able to do all 52 half marathons this year, but I’ll settle for a couple more and finishing on 40 (assuming my knee is alright).
The most I’ve experienced was at Battersea, with IIRC 1,500 finishers. It was way too busy for me, who’s more used to 200ish at my local and no queue to scan out.
Mr Emzs usual run was busier than normal too. I did my usual training session with the youngest spaniel in the grounds while he runs and we usually have the field to ourselves but lots of people about today who were walking while waiting for others to do the run.
Congratulations on completing 36 more than I’ve ever managed in a year.
I understand the disappointment, and it’s important that we step back and recognise the achievement that 38 in a year is; most people, even runners, don’t achieve that in a lifetime.
NYD parkrun done, after successfully managing to completely sleep through all the fireworks last night!
There was definitely a smell of alcohol coming from some of the other runners though. Wondering if they actually slept or just kept ploughing on through the night.
On a slightly more serious note, I’ve begun my diet again today.
After dropping down to 72kg previously, my time in Peru and not being strict with myself has seen my weight shoot back up to today’s starting weight; 91.3kg.
This is pretty much halfway between my lowest & highest adult weights, but I’ve really noticed the difference and don’t fancy going back up to over 110kg again.
So we start again today, but this time I already know how to do it.
Im starting Monday, something psychologically is preventing me mid week and maybe going back to work and having a routine.
The thing that irritates me is I really tried last year and shifted naff all. But of knee injury prevented major exercise but yeah. Contemplating the ozzyp diet
The only thing I can suggest is using MyFitnessPal to track your calorie intake, and do it religiously. It’s a nuisance, but diets don’t work for most people without doing so at least for the first few months.
