Fitness Chat (Personal Development)

It’s been a tumultuous couple of months; moving half way around the world to a country that doesn’t speak English isn’t the simplest thing. It knocked me out of both my diet and routine.

But I’m finally starting to see the signs of normality return. RHR has finally come back below 50 over the past week. Upper number is live, bottom number is resting for the day.

Had a bit of a realisation tonight, after spending substantial time in hotels, in the US and generally being off the rails Ive had to order bigger no 3 :see_no_evil: Luckily I randomly thought I should try them on before heading to my 1 day hanging out at Annual Camp.

but the fit bit is now on charge, probably need to lose a chunk before I start the running again

Good on ya, I need to get off my fat backside

Shout out to my mum. She told me for years that she’s too old to run or to lose weight (she turned 60 last year for reference) - which I knew to be rubbish.

She was inspired by my weight loss and decided to give good food and parkrun a try. Whilst I don’t have her weight figures, I don’t think I need them.

The picture on the left is from December (whilst in Singapore, hence the greenery) and the right is from this morning. Safe to say I’m proud.

Can’t do anything about the pixelated face though…

Well done to her!!

FOr myself, after a good while of admittedly next to no fitness, I’ve just signed up to a local gym… Visiting for a tour on wednesday and will probably join then and there. Looking forward to you all holding me to account

First 1/2 Marathon done! (With no where near enough training, sorry @WhiskeyNovember :joy:)

Beat my target, only a few minutes shy of my stretch goal too!

I guess i better do a few more before eventually signing up for a full :grimacing:

Nahhh sign up now and worry about that later

Usually most Marathon training plans include doing a Half as a kind of mini dress-rehearsal

Doing the marathon is the easiest bit of doing a marathon. It’s essentially a victory lap.

The training is by far the hardest. A minimum 12 week commitment, for up to 6-7 hours per week if you’re going for a good time.

Anyone can complete a marathon, but not just anyone can train for a marathon.

100% Agreed,

The long 20+ mile runs in the rain were much harder than the run on the day itself.
