Has anyone else had a 1st Class logbook bounce because the sign off on the last page was completed by someone who had signed off one of the bits in the booklet.
I know the strict rules are that it should be someone not having taught, but do other people keep a member of staff away from the training so that they can do this - what about on a small squadron, or can I just get a cadet to sign the audit!
I am sure we will work out a proper system for it, but curious as to any others experience.
There is a part of me that would like to be surprised, however, what it shows is again that the Ivory Towers have no idea about what goes on at real squadrons, as opposed the theoretical model, with staff instructing and the OC doing other things that don’t involve face to face with cadets.
Because I think it is important that basic cadets get to see all staff, all staff instruct something in the basic syllabus, even me … so that’s us screwed.
I don’t want to be “the bloke that comes out at the end of the parade”, which it is all too easy for COs to become. I have other staff to do things when I’m down to teach and if anyone turns up to see me they wait until the end of the night or come back another day. Or if it doesn’t get done (normailly some mind-numbing admin task) and if anyone complains I’m big enough to be able to ignore it and not lose any sleep.
