Whilst wearing 2a am I right in assuming this should be worn with cloth peak officers hat?
In a word yes…
The “No1 SD Hat”
Although the Field service cap (chip hat) can also be worn if they choose to purchase one
I presumed so, I don’t like to bash or “be that one” but it stood out like a sore thumb on bucket collections in and around London for Wings appeal for RAFA on their Facebook site. There are a few pictures and the 1 that happens to have RAFAC, front and centre is a Pilot Officer wearing no 2a with jumper and a RAF beret. It just doesn’t look right especially for the cameras too
There was a period of time where it was allowed for officers to wear a beret in No2 dress but if I remember correctly thats when where was a supply issue with getting No1 SD Hats.
As far as I know thats been rescinded now (paging @AlexCorbin)
Yeah thats my understanding too now supply chain issues have been resolved
Always use the chip hat over peak if I’m No2 just because its so much easier to move around, and when I’m in out in out. Unfortunately not the cheapest to buy
And if you believe that I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
Can female officers not also wear the No2 Airwoman hat still with 2a?
That’s a good question. That used to be quite a popular option years back.
The Station Commander at RAF Wittering wears one of those.
