Just a quick question. Why is the female AWO ATC sd fitted with a cloth peak. I know they can wear the airmans cap if they want
The cap is essentially an officers’ cap and designed as such. I expect there was never much demand for a dedicated female WO hat with a shiny peak,.
The RAFDPC has given extensive consideration as to whether male Air Force WOs should have their existing patent-leather SD peaked caps simply replaced with Officer-pattern cloth-peaked caps (thus resulting in consistency in dress regulations between male and female WO pattern visor/peaked caps).
The proposal has (for now) been withdrawn.
