That was both very exciting, but also quite boring as half of it was just safety car :joy:

Yeah, this is a prime example that rather than a Safety Car a Red Flag should be used in a Sprint to prevent lost racing laps.

Agreed.
I’d almost suggest the same in a normal race if it’s going to take a while to recover the cars.

Mad for Zak to suggest Hulk was at fault, Oscar turned across him full lock as if there wasn’t 17 other cars immediately behind him.

I am a McLaren fan through and through, but if Lando has these ‘repercussions’ for bumping wheels in SG, it only seems fair that Oscar should be in hot water for causing a double DNF.

Hulk did have his part in it but it was a racing incident pure and simple.

3/4 cars wide into turn one is never going to work

I suppose the way I look at it is every time a driver tries the switchback at T1 L1, a collision happens.

Hulk had Alonso on his inside and if he backed out, a Ferrari would just’ve likely rear-ended him.

My view is that Oscar put his car in a position that was as likely to cause a collision as not.

Whereas last time out, Lando got caught out by Max being slower than he expected which I think had a much lower chance of happening.

Both ultimately racing incidents, but Papaya Rules :man_shrugging:

I think that’s been ripped up now!

He has backtracked on that now, hear of the moment comment.

Yeah just seen that now, also… ooops Hadjar

Looks bumpy as hell out there. Seeing his on-board, it’s bouncing all over the place!

Some good moves from lando this race. Just wish he’d done it sooner and could have gone after max

For a while I was hoping to see Hamilton on the podium again!

Agreed - some work on his starts needed too.

Same! He deserves to get at least one full podium this season.

That he does, better than yesterday tho. I reckon if he’d have started on the softs he had a chance of taking Max at the start.

Interesting point made around McLaren, if they get to the point where Max is close enough and they have to prioritise, do they pick the driver leading or the driver on form? At the movement I’d say that’s different drivers.

It is tough. Last year Oscar fell away in the back end of the season too.

I wouldn’t want to be the one to make the call that’s for sure. If they back Lando, I don’t see next season being as harmonious

Yeah it’s a tough one.
Just been listening to a podcast sating the same thing.

Backing Lando at this point seems the smarter move with the current but that won’t go down well in the Oscar camp

So this weekend they had no option to prioritise anyone, no situation where they could have asked Lando to let Oscar through to get the extra points.

What a fantastic first 10 laps! I think there’ll be a fair few penalties coming out…
