Explanation of Learning Objectives (and Air Power)

our “winter” program has been released in terms of classification lectures and i have been asked to pick up Air Power.

looking through the LO for it which aspect is key?

the Instructors notes indicate:
(page10/11)
LO1: Know applications of air power
P1: Outline air power principles
P2: Outline British defence doctrine
P3: Outline main applications of air power
P4: Describe factors that need to be considered in the application of air power
LO2: Know about combat and combat support air operations
P5: Outline types of combat air operations
P6: Describe offensive counter air operations
P7: Describe strategic air offensives
P8: Describe anti-surface operations
LO3: Know roles of ground combat support for air operations
P9: Describe how air support is given to ground forces
P10: Identify types of active and passive defence methods of ground combat support
P11. Describe role of training and logistics in ground support and air operations

while the LO1 in detail lists
Introduction:
Principle definitions:
Principle strengths:
Principle limitations:
Historical perspectives:
British defence doctrine:
Applications:
Types of conflict, strategy and military operation:
Air power factors:

but the .ppt that is provided only offer 4 slides, one of those the title slide. turning to the notes on Chapter 1 it is simply the text from the three slides.

how is this adequate notes?
No where can i see any definitions of principles, no background into historical perspectives, and certainly nothing on British doctrine

  1. am i expecting to find this information out myself and create a lesson?
  2. what is the point of the slides and notes offered on Ultilearn?

with 24 slides in total for 5 chapters, that is only 19 slides once the title slide is removed, which have no detail, and in some cases dont include anything more than some photos (Combat Support Air Ops)

Can anyone offer some guidance, assistance, tips, places to visit to fill in the missing details??

Come and see me when you’re next free and I’ll go over what I taught last year mate.

But basically just teach from the old ACP - the differences are negligible.

just start to teach this this week - ^^ just what I planned to do.

What Steve has described is not unusual across the board for the new style syllabus subject matter. Amateur doesn’t even come close in some instances.

Some ppts seem to be more about graphics with animation than hard subject matter delivery.

God along knows how they’ve got Edexcel BTEC accreditation for this pap, when it relies on people with experience at sqn level to instruct them, filling in the veritable canyons.

Thanks for this, I thought this was just me !

I’m a new OIC (2 weeks!), and trying to put together the training plan and deliver subject lessons to the cadets. I’m not an expert on any of the Senior / Master syllabus (maybe with the exception of piston engines !), and thought I must be missing something somewhere, as I can’t seem to find anything of use to train in this. Nobody else on the squadron can pick this up either due to lack of experience or inability to use a computer.

I’ve gone back to the old manuals (ACP 34 etc) from Sharepoint, but there are still holes.

Looks like someone’s just assumed we’re all experts !

Is it any wonder my cadets struggle to pass Ultilearn exams :?

Thanks to all.
i pulled out the old ACP and have now filled the “chapter1” slide with some more content, and importantly personal understanding of the subject and points being covered.
