I was wondering how it’s written officially how cadets are meant to refer to members of the public . Is this expected officially as Sir/ Ma’am or is there a different way to refer to people directly in a more polite way rather than just saying “you” ?

Can’t go wrong with Sir/Ma’am until they say otherwise.
Worked well for us poppy selling y’day - with compliments on the cadets’ smartness & politeness.
