Last night I took a group of cadets to the Scottish Air Ambulance Service’s hangar in Dyce, Aberdeen, for them to get shown around the aircraft and to have a chance to speak to the pilots and paramedics to get their own perspective view’s on the job.
They were shown the Ops room and got shown around the aircraft, and the team even did a demo of the patient transfer ramp and let the cadets have a go if they wished.
It was a fantastic evening, both the cadets and the crew both seemed to enjoy themselves, so much that I had to call time and pull the cadets away, they would have easily been there for hours more and the crew would’ve let them!
The cadets chosen to go on this trip were all part of the same First Aid team that represented Scotland and Northern Ireland region at the Corps Competition in 2012. This trip was given as a reward to their hard work and dedication. Also the trip was a pilot to see how SAAS would handle the cadets, and we’re been lucky enough to be invited back with more cadets next time!
