ELA in Hazard Awareness

For anyone who is interested, I have made (and just updated) some material to help teach the ELA in Hazard Awareness.
The Resource Book gives cadets hints on how to fill their workbook in properly, hopefully to prevent it being returned! This was based on feedback from a course I ran recently.

It’s on ACC Drive under Training/ ELA in Hazard Awareness

Great resource. Can I pinch and use some of it at Scouts?

Of course!

Do i need to obtain any specific qualification in order to teach this.

You need to be an ELA Mentor (about a 2-hour death session when I sat through it).
Your wing or region health and Safety guy should know how you get this

Death’s the easy way out.

We did it as part of the RA course, which needs its own RA to include participants self-harming, slipping into a coma, caffeine overdose and trying to inflict injury on the one delivering!

I do a 10 minute session on thinking about hazards they might experience and then send the cadets out in twos around the hut and town for about 15 minutes to see what hazards there are. With discussion etc after each session.
