And if they can’t be found, Camp sizes will have to be reduced to fit the number available :man_shrugging:t2:

Or abandoned altogether as unstaffable.

Will said log also require a passenger manifest, if so what about GDPR and data security?

Maybe that’s what people are hoping :man_shrugging:t2:

Just going to put this here ref to driving being the most dangerous thing we do:

Or maybe they’re trying to prevent people driving after 16 hour days then crashing a minibus full of cadets? Driving’s easily one of the more dangerous things we do. Bear in mind, this is a reminder, not new policy.

Again, isn’t this what MyDrive is for?

I guess, but that actually is adding another step of admin. First fill out all the forms as needed now, then upload to MyDrive? Or am I missing something about the way it works? Can you just input the hours directly on your phone when you are done driving?

You can log onto My Drive on your phone. That’s the way it’s supposed to be used to log duty and driving hours

There’s a section on MyDrive for recording your hours in near real-time (obviously not while driving!) and therefore, I would argue, no need for any forms to be retained by the individual for two years.

Tie fighter crashing?

Okay, that’s pretty awesome actually! We should be using that…!

Sorry was getting confused. UK Sea Cadets do have a unit there, air cadets don’t for some reason - just assumed ATC was the Same.

I’m confused. If driving a minibus on a D1 license, what driving hours legally apply? Is this a RAFAC ruling? I’m a bit out of the loop these days. We just used to get on with it.

this is not unique to D1/Minibus driving and applies to all transport - admitidly most is likely to be D1/Minibus for the CFAV as the majority if driving a notable distance will opt for white fleet over a personal vehicle - that said you can get a car (and I have in the past) via white fleet and the same applies.

the ruling is to stop a driver completing a lengthy drive to the event location, being actively ā€œon dutyā€ and then expected to complete the lengthy drive back to unit with little/no rest period.
Just because someone is not driving for the 8 hours during the event does not mean they are fit to complete the 2 hour journey home as they have potentially been on duty for 10 hours before they start the return journey which is not suitable preparation for a lengthy drive

Just wondering if this sort of thing should also apply to other safety critical roles

E.g. staff member is overnight duty staff on camp, deals with incidents during the night but then as duty during the day have to run a range on little or no sleep.

This is why overnight DS should not be doing any safety critical role the next day. That should be standard practise!

Every camp i have been on the duty night staff is discussed early on based on the week’s schedule
