As a cadet do you come to attention when anyone is speaking to you? As I was told not to come to attention when speaking to someone.

Speaking on parade

Hi, So a few years ago on a drill course I was told not to come to attention when answering a question whilst on parade by my then WWO. Recently my NCOs were on a course with the new WWO and were told to come to attention when speaking to staff. What do the regs (RAFAC WO) say? TL;DR: How should one answer a staff’s question whilst on parade?

I would say it was always courtesy to stand to attention when addressing a higher rank - especially cadet to uniformed CFAV. It is taught at all training establishments across all forces. I know it doesn’t happen in “real-life” in the military, except on occasions when juniors are up in front of seniors for discipline issues etc.
