Different Cadetshop suppliers

Hey all having trouble with some of your cadet shops and the rank insignia they sell seem to all be slightly different

Can someone post actually images of system supplied rank tabs please

Er, not really.

I’d say that there’s probably as much difference in issued slides between different contractors as there is between the ones for sale online (indeed, most of the ones sold online will be from the same run as issue ones.)

If they’re dark blue and have one or more silvery-coloured chevrons on, then they’re probably suitably legit.

@TonyBaldwinAAFC have a look at the images located here:

Please note that any Cadet NCO rank-slides that are shown to have the embroidered word ‘INSTRUCTOR’ should be substituted with the word ‘STAFF’.

This is on the excellent 121 (Nuneaton) Sqn aircadetonline website (which is normally very up-to-date).

Out of curiosity what makes your Cadets a Staff Cadet is it an age thing and does a Staff Cadet Corpotal out rank a non Staff Cadet??

If it is an age thing why the need for extra ID

Anyone over 18 has a rankslide with “staff cadet” written on it, even those with no actual rank I.e. cadets.

It’s to differentiate between children and adults and whilst a staff cadet doesn’t technically out rank anyone not over 18, they have specific legal responsibilities to safeguard under 18s and so could in theory over rule them if they felt it unsafe.

Oh cool over here we don’t distinguish they need to do the Adult Transistion Program and obtain a state Working with Children card but that’s all

Up to date? Page last updated 2006! Having looked a little further through the site I would say hideously out of date! There’s an L98-A1 shown on the shooting page.

Well, 121 Nuneaton’s online content certainly used to kept very-much updated.

And speaking personally- if I’d a choice between a missing resource, or an outdated resource I could easily modify, no prizes for guessing my preference.

Don’t understand that really. Not talking specifically about 121 website now, but in general. If’s fine to have a massive website with all the info in the world on it, but I don’t understand why every squadron website seems to have a list of the ranks, classifications and an full list of “what we do” on it - most of which seems massively out of date. I prefer a smaller front end website with the basics - who we are, where we are, when we meet, what WE are doing and how to contact us. Everything else can be accomplished in a link to the ACO website. There are 1000 ish units, we don’t need the same info 1000 times.

Tony we have a very similar process (‘safeguarding of children training’ and a criminal records check) though this is relatively recent here following a review in one particular ATC region. But they must do it at 18 in the ATC.

In my own cadet force (CCF), which is school based, they are children until they leave the school which could be as old as 18 years 10 months.
