At least the SBS could use the paddle
Logistically would only make sense if we bought Leopards.
The new M109 Paladin is based on the Bradley IFV, which is also the basis for the MLRS.
Something built on the ASCOD/Ajax hull or even Boxer should also be possible, there are photos of a 155mm turret on a Boxer doing the rounds.
But if I were putting my money down it would be the M109A7, as it can be bought off the shelf. Itās a BAe Systems product too.
Because the thing was too heavy to move otherwise! Did we sell ours off?
Could the RM and there desire to change role have an impact on the Fleet Air Arm and the need for the Merlins in the Transport role?
Aye, but they couldnāt be airdroppedā¦
Probably not - they want to become a raiding force, so airlift will be a big part of what they do.
I spent a LOT of my time airdropping them and their RIBs out of Albert.
Itās a daily occurance in Poole bay
No comment.
They can have a couple of Canoes, Iāve seen the Cockleshell Heroes

tldr anyone?
The marines are going to become pirates and a āraiding forceā.
They are committing to 4 new subs.
The Puma will go, as will the E3-D and a bunch of other stuff.
So basically nothing new that hasnāt already been trickling out into the news over the last week then?
I havenāt kept that close an eye on it, but I doubt it.
Challenger 3 is a thing, but only 148 of them. Boxer is being the vehicle of choice and warrior is going to be kept until it falls apart, no upgrades.
Some chinooks will go. They will commit to a medium lift helicopter at some point.
6.15. The cadets are a key part of our youth agenda and help young people from across the UK to broaden their horizons and unlock their potential. We will sustain the five MODsponsored cadet forces across the UK that currently provide opportunities for 130,000 cadets. Having exceeded our previous target to increase the number of cadet units in state secondary schools, we will go further, with the Department for Education, by investing in the Cadet Expansion Programme to bring this fantastic opportunity to more young people. We will publish an independent peer-reviewed study later this year which examines how cadets benefit from their experience and the contribution they make to wider society.
Which means more poorly funded CEP, rather than properly funding the community unitsā¦
Pretty good summary.
1 Inf Bn to go. 4 to become Rangers. Some interesting stuff around more air defence (land and for the T45s), sea to sea missiles, upgraded Apaches. Maybe they will put a heavier weapon on the Boxer. As ever the devil will be in the detail.
Not sure what will replace the T1 Hawks.
Rangers??? What do you mean?
24 Typhoons to go but no replacement.
Interesting I noted the type 83 to Replace the Type 45 destroyers. I donāt know if thatās good or bad.
A Type 4x warship means itās primarily anti aircraft
A type 8x is a general purpose ship.
You hope it will be well equipped and not as little as possible.
Reads to me as expanding the SFSG to a Brigade Sized Force.
