Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II

Have heard that Her Majesty’s coffin will be flown by C17 in to Northolt with an escort of Typhoons, and potentially, although I myself find it unlikely, a flypast by the Red Arrows at Northolt.

Protocol is no fly pasts though…

But if they had used the train, hundreds of thousands of people would have lined the route and not then felt the need to go to London.

The search operation and e roaches at on the track would’ve been a nightmare. They can’t send the flying Scotsman somewhere without hundreds getting on the track, imagine the Queen on a train.

Also the Royal bus replacement service hasn’t got the same gravitas…

It sounds like the Lord Lieutenants Cadets have been, and will be, busy attending various functions.
Apparently, its been a nightmare getting the required RHQ approvals at short notice.

I thought the royal train was a not-completely-uncommon thing?

Myself and a few cadet colleagues(mix of ex serving and never served CFAVs) are going to the local proclamation of His Majesty as members of the public not in uniform as CFAVs . We all agree suits and black ties but can’t agree medals or no medals. Any views?

Just spotted the Aberdeen drive past. LLs on the roadside. Definitely spotted SCC throwing up a smart salute, think I saw some ACF. Definitely no ATC.

Don’t worry the Farmers made sure it was covered…

Anyway, going to stop thinking about it now as it’s just making me dislike the organisation more and more.

At my place we’ve joked often enough about splitting from our Wing…

I’m enjoying the TV coverage of the procession down the A90. It would be nice to go view HM in state, but both Edin and London are too awkward to get to in a reasonable time.

Just been to the proclamation in a nearby town.
Private capacity obviously. No uniform, as I’m a limping, non haircut mess. Medals worn.
Only service represented was Air Force as there was a Sqn Ldr in i am assuming an Odiham capacity and the DL is a retired AVM.

This morning I attended my local church service, it’s been a while, but I wanted to give thanks for the life of Her Majesty’s life and I have to say the sermon was uplifting and heart warming. The church was filled with the community including Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies in uniform and some Army Cadets (who were also in uniform but with their parents).

Did anyone ever meet her and/or have tales of visits? I know she made it to a few events over the years and met a number of cadets and CFAV.

I unfortunately never did - or Charles. I have met Prince Edward though

Never met. But did a guard of honour-esque when she turned up at RAF Cosford back in 2012. There’s a video of very fresh faced me saluting her car on YouTube somewhere.

I also remember standing on the street waving a flag like a lunatic when she came through my hometown when I was a lot younger. Must have been about 3/4 so this was '96/97.

Have met Philip at an Air League event, and briefly crossed paths with William when he was in his RAF stint.

Never got to meet The Boss, always hoped for a Buck House Garden Party invite, but alas.

Harry came and chatted to us doing drill on camp whilst he was stationed at Cranditz.

Told us off for calling him Sir and insisted on Harry. Which was about surreal

Met Philip at my Gold award presentation. Cheeky ■■■■■■ deliberately scuffed my shoes as they were shinier then his.

Met Anne at my Call ceremony. Lovely down to earth person who inherited her father’s sense of humour.

Never had the honour to meet QE2 but my wife’s choir sang for her often at state dinners.
