Dance Night

Hello- this is a very weird idea but I’m currently looking at what I could do for a night I’m hoping to do in the next month.

I find that when others do a night it’s not always that enjoyable and therefore I thought about doing a dance night in civvies involving dancing with a partner and in a group and things like that.

I wasn’t really a big fan of dancing myself but I was on a German exchange recently and went to a dance evening and loved it.

Rather than a full on disco I was thinking of having a speaker outside and leading the dances everyone to join in with. Do you think this would be allowed outside, as I’m wary of noise pollution however inside our building is just too small!

Thanks in advance for any ideas or advice!

If you wanted to invest in some lessons for everyone, swing dancing is awesome fun.

Could do it for DofE skill…

I haven’t taught/danced in ages (pre-pandemic), but had considered seeing if my lot might find it interesting.

I imagine for many teens it could be a bit marmite, but worth looking into!

Every year one of the Scottish Sqns I was on would hold a ceilidh night, they would get a local ceilidh band in and as part of that they’d be taught the dances and have someone calling out the moves within each dance. You’d get some that would sit it out but on the whole most of the Sqn joined in, even the more reluctant ones were on their feet by the end of the night.
