Cranwell training team?

For those who know wing co Matterface who has been on deployment ,i have been hearing that when she comes back she is leaving her post which would be such a shame having been personally helped greatly by wing co Matterface.

Can anyone actually confirm if this is true that she will be leaving and who will be taking her place ,has there been someone in her place during deployment?

According to her LinkedIn profile, she’s now OC BSW at RAF Waddington.

I don’t exactly want to delve into any personal changes of circumstances or what ever. But, she’s fantastic, and I distinctly remember the positivity she had at the training town hall. It would be pretty sad for the organisation if she’s now permanently moved on to other things. She had great plans and had the background to actually implement them.

But at the end of the day, that may be best for her, and good on her for moving on up. She clearly deserves it and I can only wish her the best in her new role.

We just need to hope that HQ are looking for a suitable replacement. And if we can’t get someone from within the RAF, maybe the Air Cadet Charity should be looking to help employ someone with a similar skill set and background.

I have a vague recollection that this was mentioned on one of the town halls. The update being, ā€˜it’s a shame Jill is moving on, we’re unlikely to get a replacement’

They advertised for a band D civil servant to do the role.

what is the pay scale for a band D and how does that compare to a Wg Cdr

Band D is Ā£25k and considered a ā€œjunior roleā€ (WExO if i recall is band C)

Wg Cdr is a Senior role and typically on £75-105k

(both of the above are sourced via Google - likely to be some inaccuracy if only based on old data)

to put is another way

I was told theres a new wg cdr coming in and CS is supporting.

I believe the role was advertised with a gross pay of £29k

Rule of thumb to convert to regular pay is to double so approx £60k regular officer equivalent which ever rank that works out at.

Not sure why the RM get their own column when the cavalry and guards regiments deviate more from the ā€˜Army’ column than they do.

@moderators a crossed fingers / praying emoji is required to react to this one, I would suggest.

Flt lt or WO?

I couldn’t agree with you more she had the right attitude andnfuture plans to really change things for the better . Everything i put to her in our meetings she was fully supportive and agreed. So will be a big loss i think but as you said maybe her new path what is obviously best for her. We can only pray that they choose someone with the same attitude and ambition as her.

Do you know if she is actually back from deployment now, i know it was septemberish suppose to be?

She was excellent a wealth of knowledge and drive and she turned up to our UCC and inspired the problem is by her passing to better things then who fills the void - this sort of experience does not grow on tree’s as it’s not just replacing but replacing her with quality and that won’t be cheap or timely…….
