A couple of things from Boris’ speech that stand out to me. First is that the rule of six will now apply to indoor team sports. That wasn’t explained but does this mean 3 vs 3 only indoors?

Also, more seriously, he’s said these new tighter restrictions will be expected to last for 6 months. This isn’t a short term tightening.

I stand by this.

Good news.

NYG advise remains at amber and so bubbles of 15 still allowed.

Looks like the reopening can continue.

Hardly a surprise, for all the hype and focus on the statement, nothing has really changed, it was almost exactly the bare minimum, and will likely make naff all difference to the rise.

As far as I can ascertain, all that will change is that I won’t be able to see as many people at the weddings I’m not going to, have to leave the pubs I’m not attending an hour earlier and ‘checks notes’ no, that’s about it.

Thought we taught you better than that!

Do you not want it either? I don’t blame you.

That’s because you arent the type of person they are targeting…

For those types…

They have to be out if the pubs before 10pm.
They will be even more heavily fined if caught flouting rules.

We are all better protected by taxi and shop workers now wearing masks.

So there are some changes…

More importantly it will buy Govt a little time before Oct half term when I bet they will use this ‘circuit break’.

The lack of masks for shop workers was such an obvious gap I’m surprised it took them this long, but I just can’t see that this window dressing will have any real impact on the rising curve.

There is a tutor flying out of MoD St Athan as I type this.

Tutors have been flying for a few weeks.

Keeping instructors current. My local airfield in Wiltshire has been flying too, but mostly single crewed.
