Claiming subsistence for RAFAC activities

I think the point here is the 28 days is for anything. But RM is limited to 9 depending on how you interpret the rules! You could claim for 28 days of taking cadets climbing, but you couldn’t claim for 28 days taking cadets road marching. That seems odd.

This is my point. VA is rationed as to how much you can claim individually. It makes no financial difference if I claim 28 days doing road marching or 28 days first aid.

Full Bore Rifle Shooting: Range, Butt/Console and Escorting Officers, Safety Supervisors, Coaches and Ammunition Orderlies (up to 4 days)

RAFAC first aid at work course (4 days), Re-qualification course (4 days), workshop weekends and conferences, briefings and updates (2 days). Activities first aid (4 days). Youth first aid (2 days max

Adult Discipline Nijmegen Marches (7 Days). WARMA 2-day event. (Max 7 days plus 2 training in total).

This is what ACP 300 says

Indeed, it isnt just RM thats ‘rationed’.

You cant for example attend the Sqn Crs Course every year.

That said I’ve totally claimed more than 4 days a year as an RCO so they seem to be more guidelines than actual rules

Nor would you want to

Clearly just do AT and get all of the monies with no rationing

You could pay me a weekly wage and I still wouldn’t go into uniform. I like CI life, I leave the big decisions and planning to those in uniform for a stress-free hobby :sunglasses:

My old OC would always ask when I was going into uniform up until he “Retired”, I’m already going grey and don’t need the stress of that accelerating it.

I have seen a couple of uniformed staff on the road to silver fox status. I don’t think there is a thing I can’t do as a CI :man_shrugging: I just see the uniform way as getting pennies back and a medal for playing nicely for x years.

This is one of the worst double edged swords the organisation has.

Back when CIs couldnt do everything, there was added incentive to go into uniform.

But if we take it away CIs will quit.

Sometimes i wonder why we are even a uniformed youth org anymore at all.

Another thing I have moaned about is our Sqn is rarely in uniform with all the “non” uniformed activities we do, compared to the days when I was a cadet and we were always in uniform.
A big factor with that also, is we have no uniform to dish out to our newbies and current cadets who have grown in the last couple of years. It’s either greens or Sqn shirts now with a handful of cadets who still fit into their uniform.

… and we’ve got another VA/CIs thread

But what about staff cadets

Is this going anywhere or shall I just lock it? We absolutely are not having another VA debate for CIs or staff cadets.

In fairness… im.pretty sure the 2nd post answers the originators question.

But that was 4 months ago now.

As I said, we’re not turning this in to yet another VA and CIs debate. Thanks to the last poster I’ve locked this and deleted the post. If anyone wants to add anything related to the actual topic PM a mod and we’ll unlock it.
