Where is the regulator regarding Civ Com members counting towards staff ratios?

Just to add it use to be a thing with registered civcom - they are no longer a thing.

Where is what written, exactly, and what’s prompted the question as maybe context will help?

Ratios are written into the SCD, which exclusively talks about CFAVs and doesn’t mention committee members.

The only mandatory training they are required to do is RFI - not even Safeguarding.

Also, whilst their DBS’s are Enhanced, they don’t get checked on the Barred from working with children list.

The only potential way is if individual is Reg Civ Comm and assisting at OC’s request. Saying that Reg Civ Comm are getting less, with no more coming onboard.

Several months ago, I had an overnight Fieldcraft exercise on unit - I initially thought a ‘registered Civ com member’ could count as female cover ‘on call’, but they can’t for reasons said above - so I had to source help from another unit.

Registered Civ Com isn’t a thing anymore.

ACP20 does allow existing RCivCom to remain in post, it just notes that the role is disestablished and no more to be taken

It’s a shame that is gone. So many times having someone able to step-up ad hoc is really useful.

Also a good way for people to try out volunteering with us, before possibly taking on a more demanding role.

The SCD makes it even more important that we have more flexible approaches to volunteering.
