Civil Air Patrol

I’m going to hazard a guess that the answer is NO given that @sgt_chopsticks is a cadet of the American Civil Air Patrol . . .

It was through my school. I’m a special case though, as I’m technically not old enough by normal standards to have my drone license, but I got mine through special circumstances.

Does USAF / CAP call them drones, or insist on terms like UAS and RPAS?

They insist on terms like UAS for documents and stuff. It’s kinda interchangable, if you know what I mean.

Chat, here it is. Finally proof of my glider claims! (We just got this email)

Many congratulations

Thank you!

Congrats C/2Lt!

How long have you been in CAP? Do you plan to join the US military after High School/College?

I’ve been in CAP for a little over 2 years. I promoted to C/2nd Lt in September, and my 2 year mark in the CAP (Red Service) was in October. I’m personally not sure about how many cadets get their Mitchell Award (C/2nd Lt) before they hit their Red Service, but I did.

On the military, I hope? I have ADHD, so it’ll be kind of difficult to join the military, but I hope I can. If I can’t I’ll probably go into law enforcement.

I’m a Cadet Master Sergeant in CAP and i’ve been in the program for about 2 1/2 years. My situation is definitely not average, as I spent most of 2025 as a Staff Sergeant. The average rank for someone at my Squadron who has been in as long as me is ~C/CMSgt or C/2nd Lt.

fellow CAP cadet!! Ah, I remember being a C/MSgt…

Funnily enough, your original post about being a C/MSgt is what drew me to this forum, I was investigating some stuff about the rank. I haven’t got my 2 year service ribbon yet, so I’ll have to ask my Squadron for one. I definitely do plan on joining the military after CAP, hopefully through the USAFA or Naval academy(I heard they’re some of the toughest colleges to get in!). I’m curious, how large is your squadron? EServices shows my squadron as being 95 strong, but in reality about 50 maximum show up to meetings.

I’ve looked this up, because my first thought was “for faking video game records and suing your critics?”.

T-T Billy Mitchell, the pilot? idk if he sued anyone….
