Ah, that one is easy fixed. Change the eligibility criteria
Which if happened could see Hungary get its land back that was given to Romania after the 1st world war.
People don’t know if but a very large number of Romanians, don’t just speak Hungarian but hold Hungarian passports and are able to vote in the Hungarian elections.
The whole this is a bit of a disaster and could see countries broken up and borders redrawn
That’s… a bit nuts. O.O
If it were to happen, it wouldn’t be the RAF or Navy looking to swell it’s ranks.
I considered many things an utter impossibility on January 1st. Having to suddenly acquire a larger standing Army would be the least surprising thing to happen given events.
Many millions of euros contract involved
Have we recieved any social media guidance?
Been told that the RAF media channels are going quiet for a while, when the news of action in Europe continues.
We have.
Been told “carry on as normal, doing our stuff, don’t get involved in current affairs or politics” that’s a précis from the Wing Media from HQAC via Region.
on this topic is it fair to say that the medical standards are set so high because they can?
There isn’t a shortage of people applying for the Armed forces, nor are there massive holes to fill to justify reducing those standards.
We all know of Cadets who have applied and been rejected for the smallest medical anomaly which has barred them from furthering their application.
I am not saying all medical rejections are false but I would be happy to bet that a significant proportion that are rejected today wouldn’t have been so 20 years ago. One of our cadets applied for the Army and had questions about his kidneys further testing showed they don’t filter as well as they could/should and was rejected from service on that basis. For 19 years it hadn’t effected or influenced his life, he had no idea about it until the medical but as the test was there it was used.
TL:DR The MOD can afford to be choosy, as demand to join outstrips the need to recruit. As soon as that changes I can easily see medical requirements being lowered
Yes and no. Some things can be more easily waived than others. Any condition that requires ongoing treatment is always going to prevent active deployed service. It’s relatively moot though, we’re not going to see a mass trawl and the reintroduction of conscription.
And on a related note, the RAF have recently lowered the maximum age for Pilot, WSO and WSOp, again a sign of reducing the number of applicants.
But also, since 2012, targets have been missed in at least six years and the army remains 8% below its 82,050 official requirement, so perhaps they’re being a little too over-zealous
Or they just can’t keep pace with the poor retention rate?
It’s linked to their recruit system where It takes 18months from initial application to starting.
Unless a real specialist they realistically need to get this to 6-9mths to ensure their candidates don’t find something else to do as a career.
Really wish there was a way to send a big fudge you to Putin direct.
You know, like a Tomahawk through his office window.
Just so unacceptable that one little man can cause so much misery.
RAF Media Team are “on point” with the global message right now

I’m puzzled what people expect the forces to do. Unilaterally decide to go to war without the Government’s say so?
Am I missing some groundswell towards WW3?
Obvs not.
Doesn’t stop me wanting Putin removed.
Two aircraft just left Ukrainian airspace. Only turned their transponders on at the border…
And there’s also an America black hawk very near it too…

Not really sure. Some talk on Twitter about it. But nothing concrete. The aircraft 19171 was flying around Kiev yesterday…
He’s been making significant hay from being seen in combats on the frontline in Kiev, doesn’t come across like someone who’d back down. Maybe getting his family out, though?
