Ceremonial Banner Providers

There was something about other crests/logos in the corner i remember, maybe if the RAFA/RBL paid for it or maybe a Town/LA council

Yeh, the field should be blank bar the badge.

I’m still looking for all the random remnants of policies so I can make sure there’s nothing really old still hiding in different places.

Really useful having multiple pairs of eyes. After a while I forget where I’ve seen stuff.

Had a quick search & this appeared to be the policy permitting approved badges on banners - dates from 2016 / 2019 so not massively old.

Does this mean that CCF (RAF) sections shouldn’t use the banners as below with the school badges on? (Random google example)

No because the contingent is the CCF not the individual section.

I don’t think under CCF regs individual sections (inc Army & RN) have their own banners.

@tmmorris can probably advise but CCF sections probably have their own rules that take precedence as they are a separate warranted Corps in their own right.

I’m not commenting on CCF units as that’s not my bag, but I’d say that covers the whole contingent.

Certainly from our perspective, the RAF section would be entitled to parade its badge on a banner (if authorised — there are only 3 authorised CCF (RAF) section badges).

Ahh, OK, so it’s a contingent banner. That clears that up, thanks!

If this is the case, I can edit my policy draft to ensure it’s not confusing for CCF (RAF) sections if their policies prevent sections having a banner.

I know of a school that has only 1 section (RAF) and only parade with the contingent banner at Remembrance.

I think this is where confusion creeps in as CCF contingents can have a contingent stand and a Union standard with the approved badge (but I would need to read their regulations to be sure)

How would that work for the three RAF sections that already have approved badges?

So in theory, a school in the same scenario as the aforementioned could theoretically have 3 standards/banners…

I honestly don’t see why they couldn’t.

It may just be that policy was written before CCF (RAF) sections could even have their own badges, and so you wouldn’t imagine a CCF contingent having a third banner.

Entire contingent march behind the union flag plus contingent banner, each section behind an authorised banner/standard, I count 5 (6 if CCF(RM) sections have their own…)

I so need my own version of this backdrop for when I hold teams calls :joy:

Something like 2 mocked up badges; one to spec and one not?

Nah, legit only.

Maybe the odd horror slide with a gopping collage?

The thing is, a flag manufacturer will make whatever the person paying them tells them to (within reason). You can supply them with the current specs, but if someone says “I want the old one” they aren’t exactly going to refuse the custom.

You are correct, but a unit should not be permitted to use such a banner (once all of that is known).

So I think a list of (any) suppliers who commit to following the regulations for a RAFAC unit should be made available, and I’m happy to give my time to checking first / confirming that unit badges are authorised etc.

If it saves just one unit blowing £700 on something that’s not right, I’m happy to support.

Can’t we have a contract for an official supplier?
