Master cadet, MOI, gold wings, and gold DofE in two years. Outstanding!

my thoughts exactly! one Gold badge would be impressive (I am not sure i have seen on in “the wild” yet) but to have two!! and in two years…remarkable

Very impressive tally - but DoE would have been in progress for a while?

Gold(?) Wings = Flying Scholarship or civvie wings? If civvie wings, that’s for flying outside of cadets of course.

Some Gold badges can be obtained relatively quickly - qualifying road marching completed shortly before attending Nijmegen for example. For shooting, if you have the range time, you could run all the way to CLF7 easily in a couple of months before the qualifying CCRS shoot, so if you timed it correctly, 3 months would be feasible. Of course, waiting to see if the FCC becomes the only route for Gold shooting (which will limit the younger cadets - the CCRS matches should still be an option).

Even as a direct entry it can be done in 18 months

They definitely aren’t civvy wings (that isn’t a big ‘C’ in the middle, but five small letters) but I’ll concede the laurels could be silver.

Not strictly a good news story, and i am the best part of a month late on sharing this, but the British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA) had a good video reel summarising their visit at NASC it would seem

Official opening of 72 (Enniskillen) Detached Flight marks new era of growth for RAF Air Cadets in Northern Ireland
The RAF Air Cadets celebrated a landmark occasion on the evening of Monday 20 October 2025 with the official opening of 72 (Enniskillen) Detached Flight, the first new RAF Air Cadet unit to be established in Northern Ireland in many years

Group Captain Sohail Khan, Regional Commandant, Scotland and Northern Ireland Region RAF Air Cadets, added:
‘The opening of 72 (Enniskillen) Detached Flight is a milestone moment for the RAF Air Cadets in Northern Ireland. It stands as a symbol of the Region’s progress, resilience, and commitment to providing young people with exceptional opportunities for development, adventure, and leadership. I am immensely proud of the dedication of our volunteers and the enthusiasm of the local community who have made this possible, particularly the staff at 72 (Omagh) Squadron, who were instrumental in getting the new Detached Flight up and running just over a year ago.’

Fantastic!

It really is great news when we see new DF’s or Squadron’s being formed. Huge congratulations to the staff who are helping make it happen!

I’d love to see Wing’s and Regions working with Sqn’s to identify areas to establish new detached flights, but it just doesn’t seem to be part of the conversation at the moment.

Just a quick one to say that everyone’s posts/stories that are trickling across social media from this weekends events (Lady Mayors Show & Services of Remembrance) across the country look fantastic and our cadets and staff should be proud in the effort they put into each and every single event.

We organised our second (now a community-wide festival!) Remembrance Sunday and it was bigger than ever with ever more people coming forward to get involved, lay wreaths etc.

Absolutely fantastic and solid proof that if we provide opportunities for various religious and non-religious groups to hold their separate, specific belief services and then come together with everyone for a secular and inclusive central Act of Remembrance, it really does tick all the boxes and everyone values it tremendously.

People just needed to see how it could work! :tada::tada:

I have been wondering whether you went with “I vow to thee my country” as the collective song/“hymn” or went with something other.
