Retired Colonel Walt(on)?

I’m just waiting for someone to put their head up take to Twiiter, and ask her if she remembers us…

Nah, she’s all about Carol Vorderman ā€œThe Brandā€.

Doesn’t care about us unless we are a means to an end.

I would guess that a lot of her disappearance is down to the change in Commandant.

She appeared to have a very good working relationship with the last Commandant who as much as I don’t rest her performance in May areas was very media savvy.

I don’t think the current Commandant is very good in that area and maybe that’s why we aren’t seeing as much of our celebrity?

Glad she made it round in time without sinking - starting to get the nickname of Aunty Albert.

It is the Daily Wail, but they might have a point…

I hate it when they have a point, but they do.

I’m not sure they do.

We’ve debated before about our rights to political views as part of a politically ambivalent organisation.

This isn’t on air, this isn’t part of her BBC role. A precedent has been set with Gary Linekar that political views on personal social media don’t interfere with BBC impartiality to a degree that calls their contract into question.

Linaker is not an employee but a contractor. Vorderman until she had a fall out with Michele Mone was an avid conservative supporter.

Does that mean they only took issue with her once her being outspoken was against the Conservative Party?

Not sure this is necessarily accurate; she worked with them on some projects, but you’re not going to work with the opposition if you want any hope of actually achieving anything.

Besides, it’s possible to change your beliefs and switch sides - her most prominent Tory support I can recall is a long time ago now, mostly during early Cameron years while these projects were ongoing or fresh, and that was a very different government to what we’ve seen develop in the last 5.

The government has changed, so people’s perspective on the government can also change. Blindly supporting a party colour should not be expected.

When the alternative is so blindingly poor across the political spectrum, then support for one party is not blind.

Ah, the old ā€œsupporting this horrible lot because I’m petrified the others don’t love my country and are out to ruin everything I hold dearā€ line.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the media, owned mostly by one wrinkly old scrotum (can I get away with that?) has framed political discourse behind the scenes (but also rather overtly) for decades.

Surely those who criticise a country most are the ones who care the most about it.

It’s the motto of right wingers in the USA. If you criticise the USA in any way, you’re Un-American and ā€œshould leaveā€.

It’s a very bad sign when criticising the establishment makes you an enemy of the state in the eyes of the population.

Couldn’t agree more.

I also think actions speak louder than words, such as taking measures to avoid paying tax, or pretending you’ll move all your assets abroad (not possible) if we increase taxes.

That’s pretty un-patriotic.

Strengthening the nation’s institutions, however… who would want to weaken their own state!?
