Cadets with MOI acess to sharepoint?

thanks for that. Do you know what right they currenty can access on the training hub?

Have a read up the thread… someone has posted a screenshot of what they can access as of a few days ago

Looks like we’ve got O365 licenses as well with 5TB of OneDrive storage…

Yes, cadet now have the equivalent of a student O365 licence. It will allow you access to a lot of things, even including O365 desktop applications (word, powerpoint etc.)

The 5TB of OneDrive you can see should be a shared amount. AFAIK there isn’t an individual size set by Microsoft, just an organisational max.

Also, I think your logins will be changing too at some point (if not already?) so instead of using the CIN number, it will go to the same style as we have with first.last100@rafac.mod.gov.uk. It’ll help the transition from cadet to staff as you’ll keep the same account, and just have a permissions and licence change.

Will we be getting email mailboxes?

I really hope not… I can’t get cadets to reply to personal emails.

Getting them to check another account completely feels even less likely.

Cadets are getting MS Teams (with the intent to replace squadron facebook groups etc with it, but with DMs disabled for safeguarding), but it seems ambiguous if that includes a mailbox. The list of applications you’d get access to includes:

  • Microsoft 365 for the web/desktop (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Microsoft OneDrive
  • Microsoft Teams web/desktop app
  • Microsoft 365 for Mobile (All native mobile applications)
  • Microsoft Forms
  • Microsoft Planner
  • Microsoft To-Do
  • Microsoft Power Platform (as a consumer)

But it’s vague to me whether the first point includes Outlook or not… It certainly could if you’re being given full licenses, but part of me suspects if the plan was to include mailboxes that they’d be explictly mentioned alongside Teams etc, so I am leaning towards a no :person_shrugging:

Obviously these ideas early stage and looking forward to what we get access to but, do you have an idea if cadets will have access to chats within Squadron, Sectors, Wings, maybe even regions and the entire corps. This would be so beneficial especially within sectors or wings where cadets who want to organise events or maybe assist with event delivery such as those with teaching qualifications, could then speak to other NCO’s across the wing and see if they’d be interested in helping run these courses, reducing the pressure put on CFAVs…

As for what we have access to as cadets currently the image below shows the office 365 apps we currently have access to for anyone wondering

If cadets were to have 100 accounts rolled out when could we see the corp wide release

Squadron, quite possibly, depending on how the unit Teams groups were set up (staff only can post, or like a facebook group open to the squadron are both options technically, so it depends on what HQ go with), but I would be very very surprised if anything wider than that was a possibility unfortunately - it would be an utter safeguarding headache

And an utter headache in general :joy: I can only imagine what thousands of cadets would do in a teams chat together…

I popped into the ACC Discord yesterday, and it didn’t seem to be completely on fire…
