Cadet shoes

My shoes need to be mirror shined better. Left one uses saphir pate de luxe , but shine doesn’t get better. Right one Is kiwi and it looking caked up , but really glossy. What to do to enhance the left one to look even better than the kiwi, despite putting more effort into left shoe?
Thank you

  • Hopefully it’s obvious which one Is left shoe or right shoe

Can’t really tell which is which but I don’t really recommend doing two different techniques on your shoes as when it comes to inspection if your shoes look different some officers may mark you down. Just stick to one method (Kiwi shoe polish and bull works nicely and is what I have always been taught and taught myself). Hope this helps a bit.

Top left, Bottom right I’m guessing

Saphir takes a bit of practice to get the most of it. Thin layers and the tiniest amount of water.

Also from finding out the hard way, Saphir on top of kiwi isn’t great. Need to strip back and start again, brush layers first!

Top is left, bottom is right

Yeah they both need stripping and starting again. Look up mr bull and shine on socials for some tutorials

Why does the left one need stripping?

Itll be a nightmare to make sure they match, easiest to probably start from a blank canvas

Can anyone give me the best technique with sapphire pate de luxe. Anything I should know for the true mirror shine?

@Hypopendra24 try this. Lots of help available from there. Ignore anything with beeswax though.

It’s been a long time since I needed to bull any of my own, but the biggest thing was doing loads and loads of very thin/light layers. The second you try and do thick layers, it all goes wrong! That’s what I found anyway.

Yeah do this, if beeswaxing isnt done properly it destroys shoes

Should you buff in between layers. Do you also need water? Thank you

Brush layers first (get a good or at least a new brush)

Then thin layers with water. Use a Selvyt cloth.

Mr Bull & Shine’s videos are as good as it gets in terms of tips.

Just use pat de luxe with soaking wet cotton wool, apply a bit of polish, do circles until its gone then repeat

Should you buff in between layers or just straight the end

Depends what you mean buff

Enthusiasm is good - but so is using your initiative; you will learn more rather than being told.

Part of being a cadet is to try & find out yourself - if you search on the internet for “polishing cadet shoes” or similar, you will get lots of good results with useful video clips. Many of them are posted by cadets.

I might do a tutorial st somepoint from scratch to mirror polished
