Cadet Sharepoint

I was wondering if anyone can offer any experiences with cadet sharepoint, firstly is it actually avavilable? And if so, has anyone used it with their cadets?

It’s not available apparently.

“Cadet Sharepoint”? Never heard of it.

A couple of Wings use a separate Sharepoint server for the cadets to access, allowing them to get access to JIs, opportunity adverts etc.

I suspect its probably a completely seperate server running sharepoint that has no link with Badger.

I used to run a sharepoint server for a previous squadron, with anonymous login and a cadet account. Idea being to use it as the squadron website, with non-public stuff behind an AD Authenticated login.

I think this is an interesting notion, but of very limited appeal IF it would turn out anything like the staff sharepoint.

I think it’s also interesting if a vehicle to get things advertised to the cadets, without it coming through staff first.

When I get things notified, if it says member of staff needs to be in attendance, the first thing I do is ask if any staff are willing to attend. If not I don’t promulgate it. I have had cadets ask about so and so and they’ve been told no staff were available to provide staff cover. I did have one kick off a bit, until I told them we are not here to provide taxi service.
I do seem to have a very lacklustre parent base who seemningly expect us to drag their kiddies all over the place. Something that puts me off an SOV, a local sqn has 2 members of staff that take it in turns to drive their bus, because the cadets wouldn’t do anything if they didn’t. And they come from a very affluent area.

I’ve notified cadets of things they have asked about with the ‘must make own transport arrangements’ and not one sniff. When you query it mum/dad can’t take them, but that’s not my problem, well unless the parents want to pay for our time, fuel and running costs. I’m sure I could come up with a nice little rate!!

I have a unwritten policy of advertising absolutely everything to the cadets. You’ll never get parents getting involved in transport if you only let them attend the things you can get them to.

We do have a SOV but it won’t carry the whole Sqn. One of the cdt NCOs normally works out the best public transport route to events and the cdts travel en masse.

You may be misconstrued things. Where it says staff are required to attend and no staff are available I do not promulgate as there is no point. I’m not going to insist staff attend something where they are effectively baby-sitting, taxi drivers.
However where there is no requirement for staff or staff are attending or express an interest, then it gets put out there. If no staff are required and there are no staff interested, then it’s done to little Jane or John to get themselves there. The latter is the one that seems to mean the cadets don’t attend even though it is something they are seemingly interested in.
My wife and I took our kids all over the place for things when they were younger, I didn’t, seemingly, have an expectation that someone else would do it for us. Which is the feeling I get from parents.
